Weight gain and birth control? HELP!

I was 143lb (1 pound a week weight loss) then i had a relapse from my diet and had a few meals with very high salt, so i put on a few lbs of water weight. Two weeks ago i went on the birth control patch, and my weight has not come down from the water weight (i am 2 and 1/4 lb heavier) Is this because of the birth control, and when will it go back to normal? or will it not go back?
I am also worried that it isn't what i think it is and (because this week was meant to be my period) it could be period weight, i've had menstrual cramps but no bleeding, then this morning i had (possibly) some very VERY light bleeding. could that be a period?

I'm freaking out a bit about this because i really need to be at my goal by mid june
What is it, and what should i do?

It's been two weeks. You've added chemicals as well.

And 5 lbs flux are typical.

Keep eating at a deficit and doing your work. stop panicking.
  • Agree with JoRocka, you have to give your body time to adjust. As someone who has gained weight on BC (the shot not the patch) when I gained weight it was a LOT more noticable. I didn't just retain a little weight around my period (which I also do), I gained well over a lb a week, got stretch marks, etc. If you are having uncontrollable hormonal weight gain you'll know. Jut maintaining for a short time is nothign to freak out about.
