I'll be taking Christmas day off but that's about it
THIS0 -
I will be continuing my workout schedule throughout the holidays....will probably take Christmas Day off though as I will be busy cooking most of the day.0
-
Yep. No exercise program here, and Christmas falls on a 6 mile run day, so it will get done just as Jesus would do it.0

Excercise should be something you enjoy fitting in your life. What that means is different for different people. It might be a couple times a week for some or every day for 3 hours a day for others. Either way, when it becomes a chore you look forward to a vacation from you're in trouble.0

I usually hit the gym in the morning before work M-F. Since I'll most likely be off xmas eve and xmas day, I'll probably just go M, Th, & F that week.0
-
I will be travelling on Christmas week, so not sure if I can hit the gym, however I will do my best to work out. Since I am driving, I will pack my weights and do whatever I can according to my standard workout schedule.
I am going to be in a (hopefully) warmer climate for the holiday, so I'll definitely try to get a run or two in as well.0 -
Christmas is just another excuse to me. And not a good one. If I make christmas an excuse, I make birthday an excuse, Friday nights an excuse, weekend excuses. Vicious circle.0
-
I will be. I'm trying to do this running streak thing (Thanksgiving to New Year's Day) but missed a few days already due to illness. So I really don't want to skip anymore days. That means I'll be going for a jog after we open presents on Christmas morning!! Maybe I'll be wearing my new Fit Bit, if it's under the tree. :-)0

Christmas week:
Monday: working 12.5hrs
Tuesday: working 12.5hrs
Wednesday: bike/walk + pub
Thursday: gym if open
Friday: working 8 hrs
Saturday: gym
Sunday: working 12.5 hrs0 -
No changes! Keep on keepin' on!0
-
Christmas isn't a good excuse enough for me to not get my *kitten* moving0
-
I for sure will. Just probably not on the actual day of Christmas...that's family time!0
-
When traveling exercise is a little difficult, but they have workout rooms in most hotels and time permitting I use them. When home I try to stay with my normal schedule as much as possible.0

^^^ THIS! I typically work out every day, and miss it when I can't. I look forward to my sweat-fests. I think the OP might be asking more about time constraints though? My schedule over the next 3 weeks is ridiculously busy, and I know I'll only be able to get in 2-3 workouts each week, but I hope they'll be good tough long ones. I don't plan to take Christmas "off". If I need to skip a day, it's due to family or work obligations - not because it's a holiday.0 -
I exercise every day, even on the holiday itself.0
-
Well I'm off from 21st - 29th from work and not exercising 25th to 28th, due to family. I'll be doing heavy workouts on 23rd, 24th and then again on 29th and 30th..0

Yes I will be working out during the Holiday, just as I did for Thanksgiving, when I took my cruise in October....I didn't do everyday, my cruise was for 7 days and I went to the gym 5 of those 7 days plus ALOT of walking! I think that once you incorporate it into your lifestyle you don't want to slack off.0
-
Me too! I'm like: If Christmas is an excuse not to workout, then I will find an excuse in everything. I try to workout everyday and eat normal. I don't restrict myself of anything but I don't go mad on food as well. Also there are a lot of healthier options for food that taste just as good as the original version. I also just brouhght a jumprope so I can take my workout with me everywhere I go Good luck to you and enjoy the holidays!0

I will workout throughout the holidays, even though it will include traveling out of state for a few days. As long as I have my running shoes, my laptop so I can find workout videos on the internet, and my dumbells, I am good to go to do about anything. I can still give 45 minutes to an hour a day for myself to exercise to counteract some of the not so healthy foods I will consume, and reserve the rest of the time for my family. I have worked too break old habits to let them creep back into my life. :happy:0

Just wondering, how many men continue their regular exercise program during the Christmas season and how many women?
Yuppers. Nothing really changes for me during the holidays. Good luck to all. I'm just working towards goals and trying to make it part of my lifestyle and routine so that holidays and other "things" don't de-rail me.0 -
I will definitely keep up, but I wont have access to a gym where my mom lives, so more walking and body weight exercising like squats, lunges, and situps.0

IMO if it is a true routine you would continue to do it regardless of what is going on.
Why would you stop because it is the Holiday Season? If you stop because it is the Christmas season, you are just looking for excuses and are not truly committed to becoming healthier.
I am continuing to move my tush 6 days a week with 1 rest day.0 -
It's not so much the holidays that interrupt my workouts this time of year, it's the weather. My gym is here in my office building which is convenient but I have a bit of a commute (about 45 miles) so if the weather is nasty, I like to leave as early as I can and that means not taking a longer lunch break to get my workout in. Like yesterday, we had a gross winter mix of snow and sleet and I wanted to head home by 4pm at the latest (bad enough driving on slick roads, would rather do it with some daylight) so I had to skip the gym. Sometimes I can get a bit of a burn in with shoveling when I get home though.
As far as Christmas itself, I may or may not work out - depends on how the day goes. But if I have time, I'll pop a workout DVD in and get it done.0 -
I usually do online workouts. My parents don't have a good internet connection (they live in the boonies and JUST went from dialup to 3g but it only works outside lol) so I'll print off a few hiit type workouts that I don't need equipment for and probably go running a few times. The only times I anticipate not working out is the 3 or so days sprinkled through the break that I'll be on a plane/in a car all day.0

Last year I was traveling over the holidays and left my running gear at home. Big mistake. This year, despite a longer and more complicated trip (going to France and Spain), I'm bringing running gear and will try to get runs in whenever possible, in addition to some basic strength work in the hotel.0

I have between Chrsitmas & New Years off. If anything I plan on working out more, more intensly, and being more active overall because I'll have more time.0

Why wouldn't I?
I do far less cardio during the winter due to the fact that I prefer to be outside on my bike or whatever vs being on a machine and sometimes the cold and other conditions keep me from doing that...but I try to get out on the bike on nice days and/or at least a couple times per week, but my weight training remains constant.
I don't know why anyone would cease their fitness regimen just because there are a couple of holidays over the course of a couple months though. Even on Thanksgiving I was in the weight room early before I started all of my cooking...not because it was Thanksgiving and wanted to get a pre-feast workout in like many people do...but because it was Thursday...and Thursday means being in the weight room.
My training in general is seasonal....I focus primarily on my lifting during the winter months when it's cold outside and just try to get in a couple days of good cardio on the bike and usually 20-30 minutes on the stairs on a Saturday in the gym. As the weather gets nicer I will be on my bike more and will be riding quite a bit by March as to prepare for my 1/2 Century ride.
I had planned to train for a sprint triathlon this summer and race in the fall but have been having issues with my feet and running may be off the table...but I'll definitely still ramp up the swimming and maintain a good cycling base. I still lift during all of this but I lift differently than I do in the winter where lifting is my primary exercise.
Fall brings about Cyclocross season on the bike and then full circle back to winter where I try to put on a little muscle and let my body recover from all of that other nonsense during the year.
My exercise has nothing to do with holidays, etc...my exercise centers around whatever particular fitness season I'm in.0 -
