Just have no motivation here lately and think it would help to hear success stories of people my height. How much lost? How long did it take, etc.

I'm 5'1 and 126.2 now. I started Nov 7 at 132.4. I have about 10 to 15 pounds to go. Not quite a success yet but I'm getting there. And so will you if you stick with it. Just take it one day at a time. Every day is a new beginning. You can do it. Good luck.0

5'2" and flirting with 140lbs here...I used to be very active (running between 30-50K/week) but a hip injury put me out of commission for a while...So I'm also maybe not the motivation you were looking for, haha, but I hope to soon be!
It can be very frustrating when the scale only moves a pound after SO MUCH hard work, but it's important to remember that that single pound means a lot on our small frames.
Keep it up!0 -

Hey there! Don't give up - Once I hit my teens I was more or less always chubby - fluctuated between 140-160 - after having my boys I ended up weighing about 185 for 3 years straight. Within 5 months I now weight 125 - maintaining for 3 months without much issue as Ive fully adopted a new lifestyle. I'm 5'0. Hope that helps!
Did it with good old fashioned exercise (5 x a week) & clean eating (with more then a few bad moments, ha)...exercise helped keep me mentally on track & of course for health reasons its a must, but in my opinion, weightloss is 95% what you're eating. You can exercise your *kitten* off every day but one wrong meal or snack can totally obliterate all those calories you just burned & then some.
Good luck!0 -

I'm very similar! 5'3 1/2 (gotta get that half in;) ) and started at 192. I've been doing IF and MFP for a week and am down to 187.5. My goal is 139! Let's do it together!0 -
I'm 5" as well. I joined MFP back in 2010 and I've been struggling with my weight for over 24 years. It's not easy for me. I know what I need to do, I know all the weight loss programs, but the motivation didn't kick in until just a few months ago. DON'T GIVE UP! Everyone has different issues in life, different motivation levels. I lost almost 20 lbs this past 5 months. Just don't give up... Keep moving. Take it one day at a time, one step at a time. I limited my caffeine intake and I probably drink coffee only 1 time a week at the most. I'm not a veggie/fruit eater. So to get it in my body, I've started drinking them (smoothies). This is what I have for breakfast and surprisingly it fills me up til lunch time. My downfall are sweets. So I try to save some calories for when I am craving them.
Good luck.. Look me up and maybe we can be friends here at MFP.0 -

I am 5'3" and at my heaviest was 146 lbs. That was almost 1 year ago. I give MFP huge credit for being a part of that. My husband was in huge in helping me learn what to eat and what not to eat. I eventually got the hang of it. I changed to diet pop and eating turkey. I track all the foods I eat. It was hard to know a calorie amount so I would adjust it week to week depending on what the scale would say. I weighed myself every Friday and that was it. I did biggest looser on my wii as well as running on the treadmill. It all has worked and I am around a total weight loss of 30 lbs and around the weight of 115-118 lbs. I still track my food everyday and work hard at being active to keep the weight off. Hope you find this helpful and feel free to add me as a friend. The encouragement from everyone on here even on the bad days was an amazing help.

My wife recently weighed 156 lbs.. They had a 6 week fitness challenge at our gym.
We went to the club every day and either did body pump, zumba or spin.. I did not do zumba.
She lost 13 lbs but her whole body changed.. her upper body
and biceps look fantastic. Body pump is what really changed her as she went from 1-2 classes to 4 a week.
Just have a plan and stick to it. For women its mostly resistance trainng that will make a change. She could
do no push ups now can do 15 at a time.0 -
I am 5'1", 57 and started out at 190lbs.. Lost 83 and have maintained at 110lbs. for well over a year. My advice would be to take the long view and don't be too hard on yourself. I can honestly say I have reached a level of fitness that I thought was lost forever. You can do this!0

Hi All, I've just been reading this thread & wonder how many calories & net calories you've all been sticking too?
I am 5ft and have been yo-yo ing ever since I had children 10 years ago! 18 months ago I was 112 lb but earlier this year I'd gone up to was down to 154 lbs. I've been logging on MFP for 8 weeks & lost 18 lbs but weight lose has now slowed down & feel like I've plateaued already
According to calculators my BMR is around 1300-1400 - I am finding 1000 calories a day is enough for me but I constantly get the "don't go below 1200 message" & not sure what a good target net calorie intake is for when your natural BMR is low due to height.0 -

Those jeans are WAY to big!!! You probably are smaller than that Great job!0 -
I'm just shy of 5" tall. I was always athletic and muscular in high school and generally weighed about 125 (which is overweight according to the BMI charts). I got married and had a baby and by the time I was 28, I weighed in at 169lbs. It was the heaviest (non-preg) I had ever been but what bothered me the most was how terribly uncomfortable I was all the time. I was wearing my husbands large t-shirts and going up in jean sizes. I was wearing an 11/12 at the time.
On 7/13/13, I started dieting. I already ran 3x a week and had been running for months but my weight hadn't gone down at all. It really is 90% what you eat! I started out at 1350 cals a day and I did eat back my exercise cals. I lost 10lb the first month and decided then to weigh only once a month. s time went on, I lowered my calorie intake to 1240 a day and only eat 1/2 of my exercise calories back. As of this morning (12/11/13), I weigh 140.8. I now am in a size 6 jeans. I run 10-15 miles a week and my running times have really improved. I still have at least 20lbs to lose but I'm thankful that I'm over half way there! 5 months in and 28.2lbs down. Hoping to be at my goal of 117lbs by my birthday in late April.0 -
So inspired after reading this thread! I'm 5ft and just getting started! Thanks to those who shared their success stories!!0

I'm 5'0. I've lost about 115 lbs. It's been nearly 4 years since I started, but it took me about a year and a half to lose 100 lbs. Since then, I've mostly been working on getting stronger and figuring out a way to eat that I can live with forever. These days, I lift really heavy, I walk a lot on rest days, I eat at a deficit, and I'm slooooowly losing fat.
Here's a before pic:

but what bothered me the most was how terribly uncomfortable I was all the time.
This is exactly me. My friends didn't understand why I wanted to lose weight, and weren't especially interested/supportive, because I didn't LOOK that bad. But I tried explaining to them how frustrating it was to have a mental sense of how much space I took up, versus what was happening in reality.
For instance, I'd be reading in bed and try to reach for something, and actually couldn't reach it because my stomach was preventing me from bending that far. Or going to slide into a tight space and having my hips scrape, when I felt like I could have slipped through no problem.
The worst was when photos would pop up on Facebook, and my shirt would be tucked in around my belly rolls, even though I was sitting up straight...no thank you!0
