Fat to Fit: My Journey

Hello fellow motivators, hope all is well. My name is Jackie. I am 45 year old mother of 4, divorced and let myself go.I plugged in my weight goals and the website told me to eat 1200 calories per day. OMG. I had 1600 today and I'm FK*%$#NG starving to death right now..EEk.. I think I need help in the hunger department.. Any suggestions to help with hunger issues??? Thanks so much!!

    Can you share a little more info? Height, weight, activity level, and goal weight? There are a few strategies such as TDEE -20%, or calculations using a BMR but more info would help people work out different things to try. Other than that- exercise like a beast to earn additional calories to eat. MFP often sets goal at 1200 as it;s the lowest a female should go, if you are close to goal it will not go lower even if technically the math suggests you should. x

    set your goal to 1lb a week instead of 2, it should give you a lot more calories. if you have 15lbs or less to lose i would even suggest going to 1/2lb a week loss.
  • Hi ! Thanks you so much for your response! I am 5'6 155 age 45. I often battle with wondering if I want to be thin or look young, because the minute I loose weight I look older in my face, but I think I like being thin,.. LOL What do you think?
  • The first two days were the hardest for me. Cutting out all the high calorie foods was hard. The way I approach it is to remember my goals. Also, drinking water throughout the day will help, especially when you're really hungry. In the end, you have to want it. Stay on a good diet for about 2 weeks and you'll have a new healthy habit that will be easy to stick to. You can do it!

  • drink so much water that it makes you want to puke..sounds awful but it makes food seem like the last thing you ever want.

    TONS of low-cal veggies and lean protein. If I don't want to feel hungry all day, I eat like this:
    B: 1 egg + 2 whites (lots of lean protein and about 120 cals) + 1 piece glutenfree bread
    L: either salad or low-cal soup. Read on this site about 400 calorie salads and get ideas under her Putting My Mom on a Diet series. www.canyoustayfordinner.com
    S: try for fruit or popcorn. I'm looking for volume here to fill up my belly or some lean deli meat for the protein. Hot tea or iced tea.
    D: lean protein and tons of veggies. I'll eat a bag of roasted broccoli for dinner (the parmesan broccoli on the site above). Water, tea hot and iced.
    I have to eat a large quantity (big volume) of food to not be starving too, especially since I'm working out a lot. You can do it!
