Ooooh looks neat! Someone may have found her next birthday wish...

To anyone who's done these: Would a carpeted floor work ok, or would you slide too much?? Otherwise it's the cement basement, I think. hmmmm

I do T25 in bare feet on carpet. Works great. I have much better stability and balance that way, and the change in my calves is pretty impressive.

I'm currently in week 3 of T25 and here are some results. All heart rate measurements are per Polar H7 heart rate monitor. VO2 max measurements are estimates based on resting heart rate.

Week 1 - 199 lbs, resting heart rate: 66 bpm, max heart rate: 174 bpm, VO2 max: 41

Week 3 - 197 lbs, resting heart rate: 58 bpm, max heart rate: 194 bpm, VO2 max: 45

I like the results and love the workouts.

I just started this week as well. It's my first Beach Body program. I've been a Jillian disciple and gotten great results from her--just wanted to bump up the intensity and try something different to mix it up. This one is challenging! It's pushing me into the red zone, and I'm already in shape. You will love it--it really delivers in only 28-29 min. a day!

I've been doing insanity, but T25 has been sitting at my workspace for 2 weeks now, it's KILLING ME!!!

I started on Monday (so now I'm day 3) and love it so far - its challenging yet SHORT and I'm sweaty afterward and feel like I worked hard. I did Insanity before and was debating another round while wondering how T25 would compare - T25 is a bit more dancy in a sense but I wouldn't compare the two, both are great though - but not very similiar.

I've done Insanity as well. Honestly, I think I've progressed more in the past 3 weeks than I did in the first half of Insanity.

I didn't lose any weight doing Insanity, I lost inches though and remember being frustrated after month 1 and not having visible results even with intense 40+ minute workouts 6 days per week and following 40/40/20 (sometimes 40/30/30) w/ nutrition. Everyone says wait for month 2 for the magic to happen etc - I can say I was pleased with the program, my strength and endurance improved, when I went back to the gym my old routine felt like a cakewalk.

Insanity did great things for me, don't get me wrong. I just never reduced body fat very much (not that I'm all that "fat" anyhow). When I compare my notes from Month 1 of Insanity to these past 3 weeks, it's clear that T25, for me, is a much more effective workout.

Or, maybe, Insanity prepared me for what T25 is now accomplishing ;-)

Anyhow, I very much like T25 and highly recommend it for people who are working out at home. Only caution I would make is that this is NOT a beginner workout. If you are just starting a journey on fitness, this isn't the workout for you.

I think a beginner may be somewhat frustrated while getting the T25 moves down initially but if they are doing the modified Tanya moves and don't pressure themselves to match the speed of the professionals in the video ... I think it can be suitable for a focused and determined, somewhat fit beginner. I think they'd be less prone to workout related injury with T25 than with Insanity.
  • To me, a beginner implies not being fit. I would not recommend this T25 to someone who doesn't have a moderate level of fitness. I'd be concerned that they would quit in frustration, and I'd hate for that to happen. I'm also concerned that they would hurt themselves. I usually recommend the original P90, but modify it so each phase is only 4 weeks instead of 6. Then move on to Insanity or T25 or something like that.
  • Mine just arrived yesterday and I am going to start August 5th. The calendar is on the wall. I know, from reading, that I could definitely use the support and motivation. Please add me as a friend if you are willing to be part of that support system. LOL
  • I have just started this program a couple weeks ago (today was the beginning of week 3), and I am a little over 400 lbs at the moment. This program is absolutely fantastic, and I feel pretty amazing already.....I've even begun doing some of the un-modified moves here and there. (I do not sell this product, nor did I mean for this to sound like an infomercial or anything heh, I'm just saying....its working great for me). As far as the scale goes, I have only gone down in weight maybe 6 lbs, but I've already also dropped to the next lower size of pants and I feel stronger, though to be honest, I was doing step aerobics daily for a couple weeks right before I started this Focus T25 thing.

I'm curious if anyone doing this program has any ideas on how to record this exercise here at myfitnesspal.com. Anyone?

I've been recording it as circuit training. However, in other threads people have reported lots of variations in their calorie burn during the workouts, so the most accurate way would be to use a HRM and log those calories. I'm hoping to get one soon so I don't end up going over when I eat my calories back.
  • Can you do t25 on carpet or do you need a sports mat or something?

    [/quote/]

For most of the workouts you can do it on any surface but for the Ab workouts you need the mini mat or a yoga mat because you are on the floor a lot.

You can do it on carpet, you may want a yoga mat for the ab work. The mat basically is just for cushioning, so if you have really soft carpet you could easily skip it, and honestly, a towel would probably work just fine.

I will say that once you get into the beta phase there are some twisting moves that are a bit difficult to do on carpet. I ended up not keeping up with the crew on those because it took a little extra time to pick up and readjust my feet so I didn't tear up the carpet.

Does t25 include the same type of jumping that insanity has?
  • PDarrall

It does have jumping, but it also has a modifier which removes all jumping which Insanity does not have.
