I'm doing the 30 Day Shred, and I just bought a protein powder today (Body Fortress Super Advanced Vanilla Whey Protein)
but now I'm not sure how much protein I want, ideally, in a day. Any suggestions?

    Just finished Jillian's level 1 second day( I do it every other day to allow muscles to rest) and use body fortress. One scoop is what I use after.

    For me depending if I need to up my daily calories or protein intake I'll do 2 scoops. Normally one though.

    I'm 5'4" 132lb, and I try to eat at least 100g per day. (Around 30% of my daily calories). I used the IIFYM calculator, and it has between 1g and 1.25g per lb of body weight as the default options.

    Lean on the higher level of intake if you are training hard. Don't worry, it would be nearly impossible to "overdose" on protein unless you were literally spooning the powder into your mouth.

    Once you've worked it out, I'd aim to get to the target mostly through food, then add the powder if you're really short on protein.

    I don't think I eat that much meat, and don't use too much protein powder, to get 190g a day...

    Here go check this calculator out it gives you a p[retty good idea of the range you need then you can tweek it to how it best suits you. Remember to enter your IDEAL bodyweight for the protein goal not your current weight to get accurate numbers.

    1g per lb of bodyweight is fairly standard. There is some mild evidence that more might be useful, but it's very mild. Going over doesn't hurt, though, unless you have bad kidneys. And try to get it from whole food rather than protein if possible. Hopefully you're not vegetarian. ;)
