What is the best low-cal mixer for vodka? I know diet soda is SOOOO bad for you, is there another healthy alternative that isn't loaded with sugar and calories?? Maybe green tea?? Any one have anything they use or any ideas??

Cranberry juice and soda with a twist of lime.

    Now I'm thirsty.

You could use crystal lite.. I think those contain aspartame though, so maybe something similar that has a better low-cal sweetner.

Seltzer water with a wedge of citrus fruit or a flavored diet seltzer water.

seltzer water? soda water? they might work--I'm not really a drinker, but people drink scotch and soda, why not vodka and soda with a twist of lemon, lime or orange?

I like orange juice with zero cal Sprite and peppermint schnapps, but for rum and vodka I like to mix it with the calorie-free flavored water you get at Walmart. It's just as fruity as any girly drink without the chemically taste that comes with diet pop.
  • You're worried about diet soda yet you're drinking vodka. Confusing, me thinks.

Water. You get used to it after a drink or two lol It also keeps you hydrated so no hangover!

Vodka is the healthiest of all the hard alcohol. Sometimes a person just needs a drink! Traditional mixes like pop and diet pop are filled with sugar or chemical substitutes.
  • Sometimes a person just needs a drink, like a diet soda for instance! lol

I don't need to go into the health risks associated with drinking liquor, or any alcohol for that matter. I was just pointing out something that was a bit funny to me.

Corn, potatoes, molasses, barley, rye and wheat are the common ingredients for vodka, which then go through a distillation process to get the right combo between purity and taste.

Diet soda contains fake sugars and other ingredients you can't pronounce because they're not naturally occurring in nature but man-made in a lab.

So yes, I would be worried more about diet soda than vodka any day. (I don't drink, but that's besides the point)

Actually, in moderation, some studies have shown vodka can be helpful in protecting against heart disease and certain cancers. It's the drinking of liquor consistently in excessive amounts that cause the health risks.

I like a flavored vodka, like orange or cherry, with unsweetened tea in a tall glass.

I ended up mixing flavored Sobe Lifewater with cherry vodka, zero calories/zero sugar and lots of B vitamins!
  • Crystal Lite, or Cranberry & a splash of perrier is also good....
