if you're worried, try turkey bacon. I think it tastes even better, personally!!
YOU TAKE THAT BACK.0 -
Should I stop with the bacon?
No. Never stop with the bacon and no bacon shaming. Bacon = good. Life without bacon is not worth living.
QFT!!!0 -
Have you tried frying mushrooms in the bacon fat? Its my most favouritest flavour ever if I do eggs as well it is yummy, but the eggs go a little bit grey coloured, but still highly delicious.
Don't let anyone make you feel you should give up bacon!!0 -
If it's wrong, I don't want to be right.0

Regular bacon only has .5g more total fat and .5g more sat fat than turkey bacon, per serving (Oscar Mayer brand) - I dont see a real health benefit there. But liking it more is a pretty key aspect of the decision ...
ETA: when I make an omelet, I fry up the onions and mushrooms for the filling in the bacon grease ...0 -

OMG terrible idea!
Instead, use the bacon fat to fry hash browns, and then use butter to fry eggs. This way there's no waste, and you add the all-important butter and potato macros.
ETA: And don't forget to top the eggs with cheddar and Tapatio.0 -
You have my approval!0

I don't even think turkey bacon should be classified as bacon. They should have to call it turkey strips or something.0 -
Thanks guys, I feel a lot better now!
And no to the Turkey Bacon, it just doesn't taste the same..
My breakfast keeps me full, it helps me with cravings during the day. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't bad for me.0 -
Only one piece of bacon? That seems wrong.
FWIW, two eggs seems woefully inadequate as well.
I cram as much bacon into the pan as possible - usually 6 slices. I cook my 3 or 4 eggs in the same fat.
Pass on the toast/hashbrowns/misc starches.
In interesting stats, I've eaten roughly 75 pounds of bacon this year...and just take a look at my ticker...0 -

This. Turkey bacon is bacon like Buffalo Bill (from Silence of the Lambs) is a woman.0 -

There is absolutely nothing wrong with it as long as you honestly log it. Sounds like you're not cooking a whole pound of bacon but a reasonable portion each time.0

I REALLY like bacon! But that's gross to me. my mom has a friend who pours it over her eggs! Makes me wanna gag!0

Argh, the audacity.0 -
I see absolutely NO problem with this as long as you're not having cholesterol issues. Enjoy!0

As a side note I bought one of those microwave egg poachers this morning. I pierced the yolk about 8 times, microwaved for about 1 minute and boom!! splattered egg.
So, I will go back to frying my egg in the bacon fat.
Less cleaning :laugh:0 -
I do that all the time! Its not bad, you just have to adjust calories accordingly.0
-
I save all my bacon grease and use it every time I make eggs...0
-
I say enjoy as long as you have no health issues that would preclude saturated fat.0

Me too! It's also great for heating up tortillas.0 -
Eggs in bacon grease are soooooo good.
Slightly OT, but relevant nonetheless, I sometimes make what I call a "good morning burger":
fry 2 strips of bacon
Fry a lean beef patty in the bacon grease
Sautee onions with the burger
Cook an egg in whatever grease is still in the pan
Top with cheese
Stack all up on an English muffin
Add ketchup. Only ketchup.
It's one of my post-workout go-to meals on days when I hit the gym after work. On days I plan to eat that, I get most of my fruits and veggies in with breakfast and lunch.0 -
If you eat keto-style, that is actually encouraged!0

I wasn't hungry but just reading the title of this thread has derailed me, someone delete this thread or put kale in the title!0

I will be honest, I have one slice of bacon every morning, I know it high in fat but I enjoy having one piece and my breakfast keeps my full for hours.
But after I'm done frying the bacon, I will put my two eggs in the same pan and make sunny side up eggs and dip one piece of whole wheat toast in the yolk with a half a banana and skim milk on the side.
Is that really bad and unhealthy? Should I stop with the bacon?
