I buy the same stuff and have been caught a couple times myself. If you put the two side by side the one with the addatives is usually a pinker meat and the liquid in the package is a little cloudy. If you have access to a warehouse type store they also sell it in a 12 breast pack, two per internal package. I usually bake off 4 at a time and use them over 2-3 days out of the fridge.

Now you can get your sodium in line with everything else!

UKgovt. suggests 1500-1600 mg sodium, so way less than the US and I find that I can do it i I keep to fresh foods and avoid processed stuff. Shrimp can blow it a bit and today I managed to give it a real test by having roast beef and a few crispbreads (different meals) as well as some cereal - those last two were the worst offenders. I find it a hard one to watch as it creeps into things that you'd think would have no right to have salt in them. We keep learning on this journey!
  • I really wouldn't worry about it too much... I would get hyponatremia (low levels of sodium in the blood) on 2.5g a day. I'm always over 3g, sometimes up to 6g depending on how much I exercise. (you need an extra 1000mg per hour if you exercise on high intensity).

And by the way high sodium intake is only linked to blood pressure problems in rare cases. FACT.

I'm not suggesting that one should start adding salt to their diet because the chances are they already consuming more than enough but going 'over' isn't necessary 'over'.

I honestly think that white bread is a bigger killer than table salt.
