They should swap the green cardio for diet, and I'd say split purple in two for cardio/strength, and the orange should be sleep.

Sleep! Smart. .... also clearly why I don't have a sixpack right now.

Apart from the missing "calorie deficit" or even "calorie control" I also hadn't heard the phrase metabolic exercise.

    Quick search found this:
    http://www.builtlean.com/2011/01/10/metabolic-training-101-definition-benefits-exercises/

So really the pie chart is 50%/30%/20% split of cardio, strength, circuit training.

Well it would work as an exercise routine but this split is far from compulsory so the word "need" is over-stated.

Metcon is what cool lifters who don't do cardio call their cardio. Sled drags, tire flips, barbell complexes, loaded carries, sprint intervals, dumbell circuits... that kind of stuff.

    Back to the chart....

Sleep, Diet, Progressive Resistance should all be there.

Stress management of some kind would probably help, but be optional.

Cardio (either traditional cardio, metcon, hiit, walking, whatever) is optional and probably best used according to taste and heart and lung health.

It's a pie chart that has been done by somebody who doesn't know anything about fat loss or pie charts.

Seems it would encourage people to diversify their exercise routines. Wouldn't that be a good thing?

    yeah this.

I have people tell me they need to do their metabolic workouts with me.

    it's amusing.

either way the chart is wrong on a technicality.

I'd cross out "CARDIO" and add "CALORIE DEFICIT"

It's a pie chart that has been done by somebody who doesn't know anything about fat loss or pie charts.

But a pie chart done by a gym owner / employee who has got a product to sell -- time in the gym!

    OP …my advice…

A - walk into gym and tear that crap down and then scream out loud "MFP Made me do it!!!!!" and then leave…
B - walk into gym and take sharpie to that crap…
    C - just find a new gym…

    I would go with A & C …but that is just me...

    Haha love this :-)

OP -this pie chart looks like it's based on nothing except to keep the focus of weight loss strictly on being in the gym... which makes sense, if this fancy pie chart was made by the gym owner or employees :-)

Actually, most gyms would rather you stay home and keep paying your membership dues. Every time you come in, you cut into their profits.

yeah man, you need to run at least 9x a week like me to get to 8.5% bf like me *joke*

    that is true….

the owner of my gym says he has 400 members….I was like for real? BC I never see 400 people in that place at any time….Although they could be coming in at times when I am not there…but I am thinking he is probably sitting back and collecting payments on half of those people and they never even use the place…or just come in once a week and run on the treadmill...

True that - but you probably need to buy some PT time for guidance on what the hell metabolic exercises are and to help you perfect your form

Nothing odd or mysterious about Metabolic workouts. Just a different way of working out that gives a great workout in a half hour or so.

As to the OP, missing any mention of calorie deficit, which is the only thing that is absolutely needed, shows how useless it is.
