A good resource for exercising at home

Hello all,

My wife and I quit our gym as we were not getting the service that we were paying for. They did not update the equipment with the extra fees they charged, the bathrooms were always broken down, etc. We also had equipment that was not working many times, and it was thus overcrowded.

We will at some point find another gym, but during our search we want to work out without the gym. We have things like the Wii, perfect pushup, and can run. I see loads of sites for non-gym workouts, and we don't have weights, so any advice will help.. Again, we aren't going to run to a gym right now as we also may be getting a home soon, so we will join a gym once we find one.

Thanks!

hiyah i use fitness blender.com and hasfit.com. You could always fill up some water bottles until you get some weights maybe.

You can rent videos or dvd's from the library, or you tube workout videos or if you have a droid or smart phone you can do the nike training club. It has a bunch of interval workouts on it. Someone here mentioned it and i love it, it tells you how to do each move if you need it to and it times you for each move.

Second this. Saw the recommendation for this book here on mfp, so got it on Amazon for I think less than 20 bucks. Amazingly good stuff there.

Scooby's workshop! (scoobysworkshop.com) A fantastic online resource with workout programs including links to Youtube videos demonstrating proper form, plus nutrition info, fitness tools and calculators, exposure of fitness gimmicks, recommended books, etc. He is a body builder and triathlete so no bashing of cardio or strength training either, just good info on both. A great site!

    Scooby's workshop!

Just checked it out. They ha helpful hints such as:

"you need to take your protein in 4-6 small, even doses spread evenly through out the day"

    Caveat emptor.

Yeah, I caught that too. But spend some time on the site, it is very good overall. Nobody's perfect!
