do you have to exercise to lose weight?

some times I find exercising to be painful. I think if I had been able to exercise I would of loss weight faster.
Maybe exercising keeps your mind on your new way of life.

What is your view of exercising and weight loss, do you have to do it or not.

you dont HAVE to, but i wouldnt want to risk being all fubbery and wiggly with a bunch of deflated tissue and extra skin swinging and boucing around... which i have seen this on many people who lose alot of weight but do not exercise... i would exercise as you lose... i think the body responds very well to this!

Besides helping to preserve lean muscle mass, exercising can let you eat more food while losing weight at a reasonable pace.

    Nope, not at all.

However, strength training helps you to retain lean muscle while losing weight. And cardio improves your heart and lung health. And they both help to increase your daily calorie expenditure.

Weight loss is 80% nutrition and 20% exercise! Eventually you may want to tone though, thats what im working on now :)

aYou don't HAVE to but there are so many advantages. Fitness and weight loss are separate and it is possible to be a healthy weight and still be terribly unfit. I'd rather be both lighter and fitter!

You also look better, more toned and don't get as flabby and loose skinned. Plus you can eat more, and as you get close to goal your weight loss slows and exercise can help keep it on track.

You don't have to. I lost 37 lbs in 2013 but my goal was 50. I might have lost 50 if I had exercised.

Exercise adds a great 1-2 punch to any weight loss regimen. And not all exercise has to be painful or strenuous. Walking and swimming are great ways to exercise. Yoga/pilates are also good non strenuous forms of exercise.
