Needing to change! I've gained 20 lbs since April!

I weighed 145lbs when I met my boyfriend, Josh, in April and since then I've gained between 15-20lbs and I'm really bent out of shape about how my body now looks. Of course he sees no issue with me at 5'4" and 160lbs, in fact he says he loves the way I look now, but to me its a disaster! I've always had issues with accepting my body, even when I was 145lbs I felt that I wasn't fit enough. I'm looking to eat healthier (need some new healthy/low cal recipies!) and increase my activity to get back to where I was in April! Any motivation or advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

  • Hi :)

I had/have a similar problem to the one you have now, and it can be hard to feel good when you put on weight. My fiance said the same thing, but finally accepted the fact that I didn't feel good in my body, and has been helping me to lose weight. I personally would advise a low carb - high protein diet (I'm on one and it is much better than just flat out low calorie diets) and if you would like to add me I can help you with recipes (I have tons!)

I promise, it does get better. Grab yourself a gym membership, and throw out or hide away all the high carb high calorie foods. It's not easy, but hard work and determination WILL pay off!

I suggest getting your boyfriend on board, or anyone that is living with you to at least agree to hide the junk food in their rooms, so you don't have to struggle not to eat it when you're in the kitchen.

There's no need to massively change your diet. Eat the stuff you ate before, just eat less of it. If you are interested in eating healthier just sample various vegetable recipes to incorporate into your diet. Add some form of exercise and you are golden.
  • I've got a gym picked out already and am planning on getting my membership figured out on Monday. That being said I'd love some helpful hints on what to do for workouts as I'm not really too good at keeping myself on track at the gym either...
