Yesterday I made some meatloaf, I combined two different recipes into one. But how do I know what is a serving of meatloaf how do you figure that out.

The easiest way, I think, is to take those recipes that you used and enter the exact amounts of each ingredient into the recipe function on this website. That way you can see exactly what the whole recipe has in it and determine how big of a piece you should be having according to how much you need to fit into your diary.

I have done this with tons of recipes because I have found that in cookbooks, the nutrition values aren't exactly right since I use different brands than the cookbook makers...and that makes me have to adjust my own serving size.

If you plug all the information into the recipe calculator you can make it as many or as few servings as you like. That's what I normally do, just slice up the meatloaf and figure out how much you will eat per meal and how many of those servings you will get out of the meatloaf. Good luck!
  • If you made it in a loaf pan it should serve 8. Go measure and mark it out. Sometimes I enter all the ingredients into MFP recipe builder and then play with the serving size until I get around the calories I want.

    use the recipe calculator
  • Typically a serving of meat should be about the size of a deck of cards. I think that is around 3 oz. You, of course, can have a smaller serving then that!
  • Thanks for the information, I did enter it into the recipe calculator and used 8 serving since that is how many came out. Thanks everyone.

That's exactly what I do to and it works great.
