DASH DIET

Does anyone know what this is and how it works? I've read that for 4 years its been the #1 diet. I'm looking for a healthy change, not a fan of dieting... but this seems geared more towards a lifestyle change. Can anyone shed any light?

Looks like it is a lower sodium eating plan for people with high blood pressure. You can do that on your own with this site by monitoring your sodium intake and eating whole foods.

If you aren't a fan of dieting don't jump onto another diet. Just make small changes to what you currently eat.

Hi! Not trying to be rude, but there was a topic about this EXACT same thing just a bit farther down the page on this message board.

You seem to be new-ish, so just a tip: always take a couple minutes to look around and see if what you're asking is already being talked about. There's also a "search" function at the top of the page you can use to find past topics that might answer your question. It helps keep the forums a little less cluttered if people don't post the same topics over and over again :)

Anyway, unfortunately I don't know anything about this diet, but just wanted to direct you to where you might find some help. Good luck with everything!
  • Thanks for the tip

It looks pretty much like eating reasonable portions of nutrition-dense foods. You don't need a book or a program to do that. Plenty of vegetables, some fruits, proteins, etc.

You can do the same thing by tracking what you eat on MFP. Set your goals and activity levels honestly (start with lose 1 pound per week), pay attention to the macros (plenty of protein! fat isn't always bad!), and indulge once in a while, in moderation, in foods you love. Exercise for fitness and eat back those calories. It'll work as well, and a lot cheaper, than buying the DASH books.
  • Awesome... Thanks. I was about to buy the book on my kindle but I will skip that step :-)
