I need some advice! please!!
I am on day 4, no problems there its actually going really well! I have also been exercising for everyday since Monday at the gym (eliptical, weight training, and cardio blast class one day)
I want to go work out tonight, but I am soooo sore. my legs literally are giving out on me and i couldnt even bend down at work today.
I know it will get better but not sure if i should go or give it a rest. Ive already burned 2300 calories since monday.

Do you need actual advice, or are you just looking for someone to tell you to not work out today? Because it sounds like your mind is already made up...0

It is ok to take a day off! If you burn yourself out your less likely to keep it up. If your super sore sore try a detox bath, they help a lot. Several great recipes online. I have worked out everyday since Saturday-just walking and watching calories. I have logged almost 42 miles on my new tennis shoes-and have lost 7 pounds. And I took yesterday evening off cause it was my birthday!0

Geez well that was a bit harsh. haha.
No my mind was was not made up actually.
I wanted to go and my fiance said i should stay. Needed a tie breaker.
Im not looking to get validation for being lazy, if that is what you are implying.0 -
Thanks. I am just torn.
My personal trainer (only see him every couple months) said that its gonna suck for a while and then it wouldnt be as hard. So Ive been training really hard this week especially and am just confused as to whether this is that good kind of soreness that im supposed to push through or not! It is really hard because I dont want an injury, that will mess my whole game plan up!0 -
and happy birthday!!! thats a lot of miles!0

I would go and walk on the treadmill or do the elliptical to use the muscles but not too hard. They will be sore for a few days but keep using them and drink a lot of water!0

Do some yoga or take a walk, etc. You could do more, but when I get really bad DOMS I make the schedule a little lighter for the 1st week of it and then it's really easy to get to the right intensity the next week (imho). One slower week is no bother to me when I start something.
It is best to move those sore muscles, though, so do move!! Stretching is really great and helps DOMS for me.0 -
Always take a day off every 3 or 4 days. You body does not build muscle when you are exercising. It builds and tones when you are at rest. When you exercise and stretch muscle, tiny little tears appear.(think of pulling a thick elastic very far). When you are at rest protein fills in these little tears and slowly builds muscle this way while your body consumes fat. Greater protein intake helps these tears fill in faster especially within an hour after exercise. Protein shakes are good but try to get as much from your diet as it is a more pure form. Required rest is just as important if not more than the exercise itself. Also, the greater protein intake the quicker the soreness will go away. Lots of water and rest too.0
