Hmm... am I the only male on this site trying to lose weight? Is this site for men too?

  • Yeah I've seen some guys on here! I just think women need more support then men do to lose weight.

Lots of guys on here... I think we are just more chatty about our needs so you see the females pop up more in forums etc

Try doing a search under 'Find Members'. You can specify criteria, such as male.

Click on Search and type in Man to Man- A support group for men and you can join that forum if you want too

I am a guy too, but I agree that Men may need less support to loose the weight at least initially men tend to loose faster and that acts more like a built in reinforcement. I think I read somewhere that this is due to genetics and child gestation optimizations in the female system.

There are several other guys who are my MFP friends actually. Some of the guys are just more quiet, but there are a few that are a little more enthusiastic.
Here are a couple of links - hope this works but if not I'll include their user name too:

Hope that some of them or all will add you as a friend if you request.

There are lots of men in mfp, but we're outnumbered. I follow this thread, its men only: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/114354-man-to-man-a-support-system-for-men-part-2

I'm a guy & I'm here. I've lost 25+ pounds so far & have 10 more to go. Im just not that chatty. I never thought about why, but I think everyone else is right. I don't need as much support because I lose weight quickly & steadily so that's its own support. But we are here.
  • Look for my man Binary_Jester. He'll keep you laughing :)

Thanks for the reply. I see your from DC.. I live in Chantilly. So you seem like a normal person!!! And you seem to be doing really good at losing weight!! This is helping me gain confidence in this site. I'm stoked this is going to finally keep me honest.

    Thanks for the reply.

P90X guy here! Good luck on your journey.
  • Yup. I'm on here too. Down 60 lbs. I've reached my goal weight. Just gotta turn the rest of the padding into muscle. I'm getting there.

MyFitnessPal is the best. Good luck to all of us on here!

i'm assuming this is for me since i'm from dc. and thanks! i like to think i'm pretty normal *lol*. you sound like i did when i first joined. i was going around the site looking for people & their stories just to see how legit the site was. and i gotta say, i SWEAR by mfp. any and all of my friends/family who are trying to get in shape i tell them about this site and how much it helped me. and the best part is, i didn't hafta spend a whole lot of money to do it. i didn't get a gym membership or a fancy dancy heart rate monitor (although i REALLY want one! it's on my xmas gift list) to do it. i just run and monitor what i eat. so at the most, i spent $50 on a pair of running shoes. my most valuable tools are my mp3 player, my mfp app, my gps run tracker app, and my cellphone (since it carries my apps & tracks my running/diet for me)
