Did you cheat today?!?

Your not the only one, my low carb program sucks sometimes and it happens.:noway:. I just try not to feel to guilty about it, beating yourself up about it will only make you want to give up more. Id be willing to bet that most of us have felt that urge to just say forget this S***. I forgive myself but don't forget! I remember every single thing I ate when I slip while I'm doing my cardio and try and think of all that junk food as extra fuel to burn to get to where I need to be. Remember giving up hasn't done any of us any favors so far.

I eat clean at around 2kcal - 2300kcal/day... with a high protein intake... but one can only eat clean for so long.

I'm not drinking alcohol right now, cutting that out until I drop weight, but I incorporate 'cheat' binge days once every 8-10 days where I eat cookies, pizza, high carb foods, wtv. Ends up being about 5kcal - 6kcal.

With this diet, I lost around 5-6kg in a month.

I'm 6 foot and currently weigh 245 lbs, guessing low 20's body fat.

So don't feel guilty about cheating and eating junk. If you can't handle your diet and 'cave in', that means your diet is NOT sustainable long term. Meaning even after you lose weight, you have a higher chance of gaining it all back(which happens to 95% of dieters).

I say just find a sustainable diet.

How can I cheat when I accept the fact that I'll have good and not so good days. I'm in this for the long haul which means there will be days I'm under, days I'm over and days I hit it right on target. I eat all the same things I did when I was gaining weight, but now usually I just eat less of it, the days I don't oh well tomorrow is a new day. My goal is to be good 80% of the time and well the other 20 % won't make much of a difference.

I had one more chocolate than I intended to today, but worse was yesterday when I had almost twice the amount of chocolate I intended to and went over maintenance by about 100 cal. FML today I gained weight so I am now no longer under my goal weight :P

I've cheated all weekend... Feel really guilty for it, and feel like I've now wasted my hard work from the rest of the week! Oh well, back to it tomorrow.

I made my hubby pancakes this am and of course decided to have two with a fried egg inbetween and some syrup. then logged it and realized that was a bad choice. I will make a better choice next time. also yesterday had 4 of his skinny onion rings and a few fries. Hadn't had fried food for 3 weeks and had a tummy ache and diarreah within a hour. that will teach me.

I never cheat. I made a lifestyle change and some days that includes eating over my calories. I don't restrict any foods, I eat everything that I want in moderation. It has been super easy for me to stick to my plan and every day I am closer to reaching my goal, even with 2 pieces of pie for dessert on Thanksgiving and chocolate damn near every day. For me, every time I've followed a restrictive die, I can't stick to it. If I was eating in such a way where I had good days and "cheat" days, the cheat days would only serve to discourage me and make me feel like I took a step backwards. It would be too easy for me to just give up and get fat again.

No, I just eat food. I don't have a good food/bad food list...I just eat food. I try to get my 4-6 servings of vegetables per day and a couple servings of fruit and hit my goal of 1g of protein per Lb of LBM and have about 25-30% of my diet come from fat. I just try to have a balanced diet and get proper nutrition. Other than that, I just eat and train.

Do I have days where I'm not 100%? Sure. I miss workouts on occasion and I have days where I'm just generally better about getting my nutrition than other days...sometimes I just get busy and I'm out and about and don't hit on my nutrition...**** happens...life happens. The key to all of this is understanding that your health, fitness, nutrition, etc are lifetime endeavors. It's not just about dropping the weight...dropping the weight is just the beginning of a life long process. When you really start to embrace that, you realize having an "off" day is pretty irrelevant to the bigger picture.

    Good luck everyone....

I had a 510 calorie cronut for breakfast.
  • it depends on what one considers "cheating" to be! yesterday, i came in under my calorie goal...but that included a piece of chocolate cake. so was i "cheating"? in my opinion, no, but in someone else's opinion it might be!

I don't "CHEAT". I plan ahead and allow myself yummy stuff. This way i don't feel deprived and can eat only 1/2 cup ice cream instead of the while tub, or have one chocolate instead of the whole box.

:-) Works for me, long term

Today WAS going to be my cheat day, but I had a root canal done yesterday that took four hours. So I can't enjoy the luxury just yet. Shame too, I was looking forward for Taco Bell.

I try to eat sort of the same sets of food every week in different combinations that work for me, but every couple weeks, if I have a craving, I'll honor it. I had a breakfast burrito today from a fast food place but it was my first cheat meal since the holidays so I feel just fine with it.

I cheat on food in that I have a defined eating plan that works for me, very well, and I adhere to it 90% of the time. But I guess it isn't really cheating in that I have a 10% leeway built in. I still call it a "cheat meal" but I guess "splurge meal" would be a better term. I will pay for this meal in a couple hours when I feel like crap though.

My macros don't fit meals like this well at all, so everything like this is a cheat meal.

Depends on what your macros are. I can only fit deviations into my macros if I eat them in the morning or if the deviations are pretty small, not a whole meal but an item.

I don't cheat as such, I just occasionally go over my calorie allowance for the day. But its no biggie, I am a work in progress, so its bound to happen now and again

I don't consider anything I do food-wise to be "cheating." Feeding yourself isn't something good or bad; its a neutral activity. Yes, some days I eat over my calorie goal or outside of my macro goals, but that's life. I make it up by balancing my calories or increasing my exercise the rest of the week--or not.

This is how I plan to behave for the rest of my life--monitoring my weight and calories and making adjustments when needed. That includes eating too much or too little sometimes, and not feeling bad about it. I've got (hopefully) a half century left of this, so I'm not going to get hung up on "cheating."

I don't cheat because I don't consider anything cheating. I make food choices and then I live with the outcome. Sometimes the outcome is great, sometimes not, but nothing is off limits for me. This helps me to not feel deprived and I am less likely to binge.

I eat the same as I have for over 40 years of my life. There is no cheating, I just enjoy. Once you take the enjoyment out of anything, your destined to have a problem.

When I read threads on cheating or good/bad food or guilt associated with eating I wonder why there needs to be a punitive aspect to the process of becoming healthier?

How can you be truly healthy through punishment?

I had dessert at Applebee's. Should still be within my goal tonight and very close on macros.
