Apologies if already asked - Fitbit and MFP

HI
I've been on MFP for ages and ages and lost 2 stone. Go me!
I also put half a stone back on. Boooo.
Anyway, I've bought a Fitbit One and have been using it for a fortnight and it's definitely making me walk more. Loads more.
I was thinking though, when I walk I don't log these as exercise. I let the Fitbit hopefully give me some cals back or at least not take any off me.
If I go to the gym etc, I do log it.
Am I going about this the right way?
I wanted a coffee and cake tonight so I've just been for a fast half hour walk and am in the green!! Whoop. Cake is a goer.
I didn't log it though - just synced with the Fitbit.
I hope this makes sense to at least some of you!

You're absolutely right. Fitbit tracks step based exercise, so no need to log it. Non-step based exercise, like spinning or swimming, can be logged either in Fitbit or in MFP--never both. If you choose to log it in MFP, you'll be asked for start & end times. Then MFP overrides your step data during that time.0

That's what I've been doing with times when I log.
So if Fitbit takes calories off me this is more accurate that not letting it?

I think I'm just thick.LOL
Was wondering if it's better to just trust the adjustments.
I can work out for two hours and log it on MFP with times and fitbit still takes calories off it if I sat down for a bit.
I have been trusting these numbers and reducing calorie intake or walking about a bit.
I will continue.
