    Is honey necessary?

The honey usually provides form. You can also use molasses in most recipes. If you don't have a nut allergy, you can substitute nuts for the oats as well.

Has anyone else done them? How good are they? Aren't the uncooked oats too chewy?

I mentioned subbing nuts, but I left out seeds. You can use sunflower, pumpkin, and sesame seeds to make a simple, portable food with good supplies of iron and magnesium.

i have done these many times you can add or take away.. i have used oats dates nuts. . cocoo powder you can throw in chia flax sunflower seeds whatever you like really.. i roll in balls .. i usually use cocoa powder in mine roll in balls and roll in coconut.. no honey needed.in my version. the dates oats nuts.. with a little water form together. but you can make these in so many ways..

i call them bliss balls.. they make me happy.. a healthy yummy treat.
