Very possible - dedication, knowledge and consistency will get you there.
17% is a rather good BF% you start getting the definition of the abs between 12% and 10%0 -

Yup, it's possible. But at your height and weight, you are really going to have to trim down to the 60-65Kg range to give those abs a chance to come out from hiding. Maybe even lower for your height depending on your body type. Lean and mean is the only way to get 'em to pop out. No inkling of a love handle should be detected. Drop weight, stick with exercise, weights. Drop weight. Drop weight. Drop weight. The abs will peak out for all to see once you are lean and mean.0 -

Not sure howe he came up with that percentage at his height and weight.
Run his numbers in the standard BMI Calculator and here's what it shows...
BodyFat
He's right on the edge of overweight and obesity at 29.4 BMI.0 -
I went from a beer belly to a 4 pack in a year (perhaps I'm being a little generous to myself, but check out my before/after pics and you'll see I'm getting there). I'm now focusing on getting down to 10-12% BF by this summer so maybe then I'll have a more defined 4 pack. Not sure I'll ever get those bottom abs for a full 6 pack though! But if a 50 year old can do it, you can!0

Looking good sir; I'm 35, but considerably more rotund.
My calculation of my BMI comes to about 28.6, which is high indeed, but definitely not in the obese category.
Thanks for the feedback.0 -

I started out @ 262 lb, 9/11/11, but don't have a good starting pic, first pic is after losing 42 lbs already.
Still have a little leaning out to do, but not much, 1-2%. Not in a rush though, looking to get to 205-ish at the same time.0 -

We don't know how much lbm vs body fat he has. BMI doesn't show us this.0 -
waldo56 that is an awesome transformation. Lost for words...
I especially like how your ticker reads "0lbs to go" :drinker:0 -
For the record BMI and BF are two different things.
BMI is a number that is used to evaluate your body size. It is not a percentage of body fat, but rather a general score that helps determine if your weight is healthy.
Body fat percentage is a measurement of the fat on your body as opposed to muscle, bone and other lean body mass.0 -
I had no fat really except my gut and neck. Started running and watching my calories. Lost 33 pounds, seven more to go and then it's AB time. Yes it is possible.0

I reached my "weight loss" goals in late spring 2012, having lost 75 lbs (low pt of 187 lbs).
Since then I've been bulking-cutting, and have gained about 20 lbs of muscle and lost an additional 15 lbs of fat (been as high as 203 lbs and as low as 186 lbs).
MFP doesn't have a ticker for weight gain, what I have is about as close as you can get, it can't do negative numbers for pounds to go and just says 0. Though I do need to adjust it as my current goal wt is 199 lbs and I'm 194 lbs at the moment.0 -

General rule to thumb is 10-12% BF% for abs to pop out. Agreed that those numbers vary from person to person however that is the target that is mainly looked at when ever guestimating / setting targets.
I personally do not use BMI as in my books it is a complete tool.
The method is not accurate as it does not take into consideration bone density, fat mass and lean mass, which vary for every person whether they are slim or obese.0 -
Wow....you look soooooooooooooooooooooooo good. Congrats on the major transformation!0

I did it and I didnt eat very healthy either. I just gave up soda, ran every day and did 100 crunches holding an 8lb medicine ball. see my profile pics for proof0 -
Yes, it can be done. I lost nearly 50 pounds and carried most of my weight on my belly (I looked like I was 6 months pregnant and had large moobs!)
