Have clothing sizes changed over the years??

When I was a freshman in High School and my mom and aunt were doing the old Weight Watchers (mom lost 80 lbs in 8 months...very strict plan back then). I had lost weight down to 121 lbs (5'3"). Although WW had my goal as 115lbs. Anyway...at my lowest weight of 121 lbs the smallest jeans I recall getting into back then was a size 10. Now days we have size 0 and size 00 out there for females.

    Yes, definitely have changed. I am size 8 or 10 now. Same weight 40 years ago, I was a 12 or 14. True story.

    This is called "vanity" sizing. Would you rather buy a size 10 or a size 8? Clothing manufacturers are just trying to sell more clothes.

    So glad to know I am not crazy...yes, this was about 30 yrs back but I have been fighting weight since and never even gotten close (lowest since was 183 lbs). I know it is only a number on the jeans but will be neat when I can buy some of these "vanity" jeans. lol

    I think it also depends on where you shop. At my age, IF I can afford it, I shop at Ann Taylor, J Jill, Coldwater Creek. I always fit into smaller sizes in these stores as they are made for women's bodies. If I shop at American Eagle (a teen store) for jeans, I am always a larger size as these stores make the clothes to fit a younger persons figure... Just my thought

    Absolutely. Since I lost weight, I can easily fit into a mens small t-shirt. When I pulled out some old t-shirts from the 80's and 90's, all mediums, they were too small.
