I started out @ 262 lb, 9/11/11, but don't have a good starting pic, first pic is after losing 42 lbs already.

Still have a little leaning out to do, but not much, 1-2%. Not in a rush though, looking to get to 205-ish at the same time.

amazing...you look 20 years younger! Go you!

I was actually leaner before, and the abs popped a bit more, but decided to work on getting a little stronger, and gain a couple of pounds. Feel much at my current weight, actually.

First pic, 177 lbs (taken on December 27, 2012), second 147 lbs. (taken on January 7, 2014).

    Great job! You look wonderful!

    W. O. W. you don't even look like the same person....
so after I stared at you for way too long:love: ....lol I noticed how many cell phones you go through a year... .

First 2 were the same phone, an old iphone 3gs, back before they started putting non-garbage cameras in them. I just switched cases between the pics.

And thanks everyone. It just takes time and consistent effort toward training and diet. It took me about 7-8 months to start seeing hints of my abs, the year and a half since I've spent getting both leaner and more muscular (not at the same time though).

I work out at home, not in a gym. Mostly bodyweight exercises for strength training, but I do have some DB's that I use (mostly to weight pistol squats in the legs, upper body is pretty much purely bodyweight). But I do keep up my cardio fitness by running a couple times a week (<10 mi total) and walk regularly (every weekday on my lunchbreak).
I remember you saying you had loose skin but at no point do I see you having any, at least in the pics posted.

May-June 2012 was the height of it. It didn't show much at all in straight on selfies, I don't have a whole lot of photos that show it. I never got the wrinkly type, in part though because I didn't get that lean at first, could see my abs, but I really only got down to about 18% BF or so (in hindsight, thought it was 10% at the time) before I started bulking, and cleared up the majority of it. Had a big ol pooch when bending over and normally had a flat as a pancake roll at the belt line. Took about a year for all signs to go away, though most of it was gone in the first 2-3 months after starting to bulk.

To the OP: the horse (or pony) you're on in your pic looks just like a very beloved pony from my childhood. Everybody say "awwwwwwwww" now, okay? No? But... pony.....

As has been proved it is possible. I run (like Forrest Gump), and have a rock hard stomach now (as opposed to the bouncy castle I had before!). I don't have a six pack, as I don't do the things to gain a six pack, but exercise to lose the fat and build the muscle will give you what you want!

It looks like the answer is bulking and cutting after you have reached your primary weight goal. No one said it was gonna be easy..

<-- Another one for yes. Size 40 to size 30 jeans. Lots of weights, countless hours of cardio, low carbs, and sticking to the MFP calorie count. It took me 18 months.

Definitely. Depending on the day I've lost 75ish lbs. You probably need to get down to around 10% +/-2% body fat to see abs.

How are you calculating your BF now? I'm 5'9" and about 11% BF at 158.

Now I'm thinking that my percentage of body fat may be way off... I am just using a domestic bathroom scales, not sure how reliable, but it's probably way more than 17%
