I really need a way to decrease my carbs. Obviously the quick answer is eat less of them. I've cut back on bread/crackers, etc and switched what I do eat to whole grain varieties but looking at some of my recipes, the carb count is over the top.
What is a normal level of carbs for a meal? (I'm guessing 45 isn't an option!!) Any suggestions for snacks with fewer carbs?

Learn to substitute carb-y ingredients for non carb-y ones.
Snacks Suggestions:
1. Egg White Quiche (super easy to make and super low in calories. the ones I make are only 33 calories per quiche. just google it)
2. Dark chocolate
3. Fruits that are low in carbs0 -
Depends on what kind of carb it is....
Best choices are complex carbs like white rice, brown rice, steel oat meal, etc.
or those from fruits + veggies.

If you just cut out the bread(whole grain or multigrain, doesn't matter), and replace it with brown rice, you'll see a big diff.0 -
As for snacks/food try Korean foods... my favourite diet food is BI BIM BAP
150g brown rice(cooked), tons of spinach, tons of sprouts, tons of mushrooms, 50g 90% lean ground beef, Chinese spicy sauce.
Mix it in a big bowl.
You have a filling 400kcal , healthy meal.
Also look up HWE DUP BAP. Same concept except you do it with lettuce + tuna sashimi + 150g rice + spicy sauce0 -

I think 45g of carbs in a meal is fine, it depends what your goals and set macros are but that doesnt sound huge to me.0 -

Even with oatmeals, if you care, there are not all the same... Healthiness level from 1 -> 3.
1. Steel-cut oats are whole groats chopped up. These take longer to cook, contain more of their original nutrients, and taste nuttier than regular oats.
2. Rolled oats are steamed groats that have been rolled out and flattened.
3. Instant oats are rolled, steamed, and precooked oats. These will often have sweet flavorings added, and are the least healthy option.0 -
There's nothing wrong with carbs, as long as they're not causing you to go over in calories. 45g of carbs per meal is only 135 carbs a day, that's not high at all If you make your diary public we can take a look.0

I had read somewhere that our bodies don't metabolize carbs after a certain hour in the day, so maybe you could try to eat your oatmeal for breakfast, then a salad for lunch and a veg and protein for dinner.0

I am over on my carbs every single day, by like double. Under my calories but double my carb goal. ._.0

Look for Fiber Gourmet pasta and crackers. I can't find it locally so I buy it from Amazon.

How do our bodies know what time it is? What about people who work swing shifts and eat breakfast/wake up at midnight? This statement makes no sense at all.0
