I would start with food and then work your way to exercise! It can be overwhelming trying to start both at the same exact time...but definitely don't wait too long in between (a few days probably). I am also looking to lose about 80 more lb total!! I just count my calories and go to the gym 3-4 times a week. Eventually I will build up my routine, but you have to start somewhere!! Feel free to add me!

I just started this week and my initial goal is 50 lbs. I'm walking at least 20 min. three times a week. My doctor told me to take it easy at first. Just using the food tally is a great help. I never thought it would be this easy. I have always hated counting calories as with weight watchers but this is kind of fun! (except when I go to Chick-fil-A) =( So, I don't beat myself up after one bad day but look to the longer goal.

Just joined this week and my goal is to lose 65lbs. Sounds like so much when I say that…..so I break it down into goals that I can achieve and stay motivated. This site is great for tracking what you eat. I also set exercise goals for # per week and minutes. Focus on things that are tangible and reachable and build from there. Even the longest journey begins with a single step!

Just joined last week Tuesday and my goal is to lose 55lbs. I try to go to the gym 2-3 times a week and do the Kettleworx workout 1-2 time a week minimum.

Feel free to add me

    Welcome to MFP!
Start off slowly, by that I mean start excersizing a couple times a week and add an extra day each week until you can go 5 days a week. Even if it is only walking for now at least you are up and moving.
As for nutrition follow the guidelines on your mfpm, they truly do work.
Another big thing is motivation, think of something that would motivate you the most to keep on this journey.
We all have slides and upsetting weeks but we need to learn to push past them and go forward.

This is a great community for support and encouragement and ideas.
Good luck, you can do it!!

  • Hey there! I want to lose about 70 lbs. and I know what you mean about where to start! I work a 50 hour week and my hubby is retired, so I really need to count on him to cook healthy for both of us. I was going to have a cookie after lunch yesterday and plugged it in before I ate it and it came up 133 calories and I decided I didn't really need to eat it!
