Best meal replacement options?

Most of the time it's very difficult for me to get healthy, low calorie meals, through out the day. Mornings especially are difficult for me since I'm not a breakfast person and will often skip breakfast rather than ingest a solid meal. I've used Slim Fast shakes in the past and they really help me through out the day to stay full and watch my calorie intake. The only problem is Slim Fast shakes are loaded with sugar.
Would you recommend any shakes or bars for meal replacement that don't have such a high sugar intake and that is relatively "healthy" for you. Obviously I'd like something affordable as well as something that can be purchased at most Walmart, or Walmart type store, since that's the only thing available in my area.

Hi Sara_Beth! I personally like the GNC Total Lean Lean 25 protein powder mix from GNC. 25 grams of protein, 200 calories and low sugar. I drink one of these or eat a Quest Bar most mornings for breakfast and sometimes for lunch as well. I like them both and they both have multiple flavors. The powder mixes easily in a shaker cup or blender. The Quest Bars are gluten free. If you like them on FB and tell them you would like to try their product they will usually send newbies to their company 2 free bars.0

@booboo68 Thanks, I'll definitely check up on that. I really liked the Slim Fast because I could buy the mix and then a huge box of powered milk and mix it up for a lot cheaper and whenever I wanted without having to worry about milk going bad or something like that. Buying in bottles always seemed like such a waste to me with all those bottles and drinking them 1+ times a day.
@donyellemoniq I actually have something similar to the nutribullet and I've tried to go that route in the past but never could keep up with it. It's a lot easier for me to stick with it if it's a little less prep and maintenance. Thanks for the suggestion though. If I had the determination to stick with it I would definitely go that route.0 -

Peanut butter/banana sandwich. Fast, easy, and much cheaper than a meal replacement.0

Full blown meal replacement, if you can make yourself do it (I saw your post about keeping it up), are home made smoothies. I make a chocolate one that tastes like a shake. The ingredients last a long time so you aren't rushing to finish. I have an insulated cup that fits on my blender so I could make it and run. It only has four ingredients: frozen fruit blend (usually strawberry mango pineapple), a few tablespoons of lowfat vanilla yogurt, 4-6 ounces of lowfat chocolate Silk Soy Milk and the chocolate protein powder of your choice. It has fruit, dairy, fiber, probiotics and tastes good. I'm not certain if I've made it more for breakfast or dinner.
Chocolate protein powder in lowfat vanilla yogurt is good. Add a fruit to get some fiber. Or another option is to microwave a cup of frozen blueberries, mix in a few tablespoons of lowfat yogurt, add in some cinnamon and if you want some protein powder. Again it gives you fiber, dairy, probiotics and protein in a quick and portable format.
Apple, almonds and milk would give you an on-the-go breakfast that would hit most requirements. Or prepackage peanut butter to eat with apples or celery.
You can also microwave an egg and put it on toast. Put the toast in the toaster first. Then to microwave an egg, break it in a bowl, add a tablespoon or so of water and mix it with a fork. Put it in the microwave for only a minute, if it isn't quite done you can put it in for up to 30 seconds longer (it really doesn't take much.) Put a little shredded cheese on top and put it on the toast or make it into a sandwich. It's fast, portable and has a lot of nutrients.0 -
you can make all your smoothies on sunday and freeze Tuesday through Friday's smoothies. Just take them out of the freezer the night before you want to drink it. It's not really a lot of prep and it's a lot healthier.0
