Food of the gods!0 -
I use light cream cheese, laughing cow cheese, cottage cheese, avocado, or any kind of dip. I don't do sweet stuff on toast (jams etc) so these spreads are great.0

Peanut butter, onion and chive light cream cheese, jelly or jam.
To start with I thought you were listing things you like to mix on toast. I was slightly horrified till I got to the 'or'! :-P0 -
Vegemite! Back in my 1200 calorie days, I used to have it without butter/marg, but it's best when you have lots of butter first
Hrm I don't think that was actually a helpful contribution, let me try again…
Be careful of the Olive Oil spreads, in theory they sound healthier, but a lot of them have more trans fats than margarine! Here's a link to a fantastic article (pdf form) by Australian Choice magazine. It was done in 2005 and obviously the brands wont be the same in other countries, but it's got some useful information http://tinyurl.com/opprmls0 -
Hey American folk! What is apple butter? we don't have that in the UK, sounds good.
And...coconut oil on toast??? , sounds so weird! I Think I can get that over here, and I love all things coconut too, is it really good for you? don't know much about coconut oil.0 -
Has to be Marmite! It's very strong (especially the XO variety) so you only need a smear - with or without butter it's delicious!0
-
Butter and marmite, if I'm going to eat fats I'll eat the least processed and the marmite is rammed with good stuff and tastes great on soldiers with a dippy egg!0

my favourite breakfast of late is toast with one triangle of laughing cow cheese spread between the two slices and topped with smoked salmon!!! Mmmmm so yummy and leaves me feeling satisfied!0

Saturated fat is not poison. Butter is far better and healthier than any margarine.
YUM!
And...has anyone tried PB2? either plain or chocolate?
I mix the PB2 chocolate with plain oatmeal and it's delicious. Haven't had it in it's intended form, just mixed with water... but I love it in oatmeal.0 -
I use peanut butter or avocado for some healthy fats.0
-
I use a teaspoon of olive oil and a tiny bit of sea salt. So much better than butter.0

I put cream cheese on my toast or English muffin, because we get free cream cheese in individual packets at my job. Another fantastic option is avocado. Although that's certainly more expensive!0

I love cashew butter! and you make it yourself!!
(let the cashews sit in the fridge for 8 or so hours in water, you rinse them off a few times, and then put them in a food processor, thus creating the "butter"- there's also another way to make it w/out letting them sit in water. google both! c:)
you can add seasonings and make it taste like basically anything.
10/10 recommend.
...granted you're not allergic to nuts, lol.0 -
We are talking whole grain toast I assume.
1) Nutella
2) Nutella with whipped cream on top
3) Rub garlic, season with salt, and a layer of pork lard.
4) Mustard and chicken breast
5) Just mustard
6) Butter and prosciutto
7) Peanut butter and jelly and whipped cream
8) Mostly always Nutella tho0 -
I love Humuus. It is also a protein so you get your fiber and protein in one food. Butter is better for a person than margerine.0
