Hi, I am a younger male that finally wanted to get rid of my excess fat. I started at a weight of 180 lbs and a height of 5 feet 11 inches. I have lifted weights regularly for the last 2 years, (although i don't lift during the summer often.) I currently am in basketball and I have practice or games every week day and sometimes weekends so I am a fairly active person. I started counting calories at the start of December. After doing the calculations, I gave myself a goal of about 2500 calories. I am now 7 weeks into this and I weigh 160. I have really tried to maintain muscle and although I have noticed a small decrease in my bench and overhead press ( like 1-2 less reps at my moderate rep range) I have overall maintained my strength in lifting overall. I have been reading and it sounds like I have lost this weight too quickly compared to how I should be in a healthy range. In fact, In some calorie calculators it says I am eating at my maintenance levels. But I am still consistently losing weight. I have also lost about 2 inches from my hips and waist, but I personally can't see the difference. I am very confused overall because I am a beginner at this. Any and all responses are appreciated!

Lift weights, make sure your macro's are correct as opposing to just caloric intake! Protein shakes or mass gainers may help you maintain weight while adding muscle
