Up 7 lbs this weekend

I watched the football game this weekend and ate a crap ton of Pizza while watching it. (YOLO) Needless to say the salt and my body's reaction to it caused the scale to go up a whopping 7 lbs overnight. Man was I puffy the next day. I just wanted to say that if it weren't for the sane rational people on this message board who have been educating me for the last several months, I would be a lot more freaked out about this than I am. I still had the initial Holy SH## moment seeing it on the scale, but I was able to talk myself out of feelings of despair and horror.

Before the support and education I have received from the people here, that gain would have derailed me for weeks and led to a cycle of giving up the good fight and eating everything in sight. So, I treated myself to a lot of pizza. I had a really good time. The cost is that I'm retaining a lot of water and it will take me a few days to loose it, but, because of you fine people, I don't feel angry/sad/bad. So thank you =)

Good for you! It's those little wins over stuff that could make you freak out that will add up to big success.

I put on 6 pounds on Christmas Day. I was also sick with a bad cold, so when I woke up the next morning I was so swollen I could barely open my eyes.

This post was a pleasant surprise versus what I was expecting to see. Good job keeping your head, Hun!

This was a revelation for me too. In the past I would have seen that increase and given up not realizing that I didn't really gain 7lbs. Knowledge truly is power!!!

So happy that this happened and that you know it will come off again, once the body processes everything.

Thats the joy of MFP and the forums!!!!

    Great attitude!
  • I had an interesting day yesterday, I was up two pounds too. So I drank 20oz of coffee with a ginger cookie and re-weighed: lost 1.4lbs. That was still too much weight and I took a shower and found I lost another .2lbs.

Now that just demonstrates scale weighing error alone, but there are several other body factors that can cause +/-2lbs, added together you could be +10lbs in one day if they happened to swing the same way at the same time.

Without taking into consideration the factors that can cause swings in weight from day to day I could conclude that coffee and ginger cookies cause weight loss, and showering water weight is negative. ;)

woo woo! I had a "bad" weekend too, but it's all about locking the negativity/failure monster in the closet and getting right back into it. A bad day only ruins your progress if you let it continue! Personally I'm going to stay off the scale for several days so I don't see a discouraging number, but more power to you for facing it and not letting it get you down!

I get the after-shower drop as well!

@OP I have the exact same thing going on today. Boyfriend was out at a work function last night, and I stayed home watching Netflix and eating an awesome delivered meal of pasta and cheese & garlic focaccia - and am up 6lbs this morning.

Yes, I know I did it to myself, yes I enjoyed it, and yes I know I'll get rid of it again!
  • That is strange, I usually gain a pound after a shower!
