Not getting enough calories

I'm having a difficult time getting all my calories in on one day. I have challenged myself to limit my carbs intake, and eat mostly fish, chicken, vegetable, fruits. Any suggestions or should I not worry being that this is just week two.

There's nothing wrong with adding some whole grains to your diet if it helps you meet your calorie goal. Also, don't be afraid of fats!

Limited it to what exactly? From the lessons I've learned here.. all you really need to be careful of is your calorie count. Don't do something you can't maintain restrictively, you'll just gain weight back when you break the health food cycle. Not saying making these choices aren't good? Cause we could all eat a bit less junk.. but don't damage yourself with limiting things you need to survive. Carbs aren't bad.

It could be that your goal settings are off? Have you inputted the right height, weight, age and activity level? If so, is your goal set to 2lbs lost per week? If you're still eating under that amount that MFP sets you at by 100-200, you should be okay. IMO

I don't get why people demonize carbs. Eat enough fat and protein every day, and then fill the rest of your calories with carbs, there's nothing wrong with eating carbs

can't see your food diary, but are you eating some healthy fats? Avacardo, nuts, olive oil?

well first of all your diary is closed so we can't tell what you are or are not doing right or wrong. As long as you have your GOALs set properly then just do what MFP says to do.are you exercising? If your worried about not eating all your NET cals don't worry bout that. They tell you to eat all your NET cals but there are days that just isn't possible if you exercise a lot. If you at least get in your GOAL cals and then some that is all you need to worry about unless you are week from not enough nutrition.

When you limit your carbs, you need to up another macro, like fat or protein. I would suggest upping your fat intake, as that can bulk up your meals so you can meet your calorie goal. Add butter to something, or cook in oil of some sort. Eat an avocado even!

I eat low carb and high fat. Nothing wrong with limiting one's carbs. It's been working wonders for me.
  • I am concerned that too few calories will cause problems for you. Too few calories will slow your metabolism down, and eventually cause food cravings making it impossible for you to stay on track. A little tip I used in the early days was I would plan my foods...meals, snacks, drinks, everything....first thing in the morning. Make sure you have enough calories that include enough fiber, fruits, veggies, low fat protien, whole grains, and dairy. Then you won't struggle during the rest of the day deciding what to go to when you get hungry; you have a plan and know exactaly what you will have for your day. I liked being able to do this on busy days where I was going to be doing a lot of running around. I'd plan to take an apple, string cheese, almonds, pretzels, or something else and put it in my purse so I didn't blow it while out and about. I agree that you should keep your carbs on the lower side, but it isn't as important as keeping your saturated fat intake low. I have a lot of other tips that might help you. If you are interested, let me know! Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the suggestions... I'll take any advice you can give me.... Right now I'm not working so I'm home most days... so the night before I kind of know what I'm going to eat the next day.
