Milk GROSS

Just found out I am severely lactose intolerant. It started when I was pregnant, and has gotten much worse. Drinking milk now calls for staying home as a sick day! Which dairy milk alternative do you like best? I love having a bowl of cereal and need a milk option!

I like Natura original soy milk its awesome.0

I like unsweetened almond milk. Not to drink, but in my cereal.0

IF I drink any milk, it's usually Lactaid since I'm lactose intolerant. Just for the record though, dairy isn't a requirement. That said, I'm NEVER giving up ice cream and cheese.

I'll second the almond milk!0

Ditto on the almond milk. Your cereal will flavor it. If you plan to drink it, get the vanilla flavor. Coconut milk has a wonderful sweetness that mimics cow's milk. You may like that to drink straight.0

I have never had it on cereal but I have used it for baking and for shakes and I like the unsweetened vanilla almond milk. Nothing will have the same texture though I don't think. My husband thought he was lactose intolerant for a while but it turned out to be something else. He really liked the lactaid options.0

they make lactose free milk...I drink it everyday and I'm not even lactose intolerant...0

My daughter (9), is in the middle of an elimination diet and right now we're doing dairy (so far all her digestive issues are gone yay!!), and for cereal I just bought our store brand's regular almond milk. She says it's ok with her cereal (which is Fruit Loops or Apple Jacks ). Our store also just started carrying the Silk brand dairy free yogurts and she says those taste pretty good too!0

I tried Soy milk a little while ago adn wasn't thrilled but didn't hate it either.
I just switched to unsweetened Almond milk as well due to stomach issues. I have so far only had it in protein shakes but I tried a sip plain - iether way it does the trick.
Have yet to try it in my cereal though!0 -
I like vanilla soy milk to drink. But, I eat my cereal dry (when I have it, which is rarely). Boo soggy cereal!0

We usually go with Walmart's Great Value brand lactose free milk. It's less expensive than the Lactaid brand. We occasionally buy Pure Almond's Vanilla flavor but I can't imagine having that on cereal for more than a few days in a row.0

My kids drink Lactose Free Milk Lactaid and I enjoy Unsweetened Almond Milk. The Almond milk definately has an interesting taste the first time but I have come to enjoy it with my raisin brand!0

Silk Light Chocolate Soy Milk or Almond milk. Both are good substitutes and taste good. They do not taste like milk so be prepared to give your taste buds a chance to adjust.0

I drink Silk all the time! I prefer the Plain version rather than the vanilla or chocolate. Those two are much too sweet, and the plain version goes with everything! I also buy some chai concentrate by Tazo and drink that with silk in the morning and it's a wonderful start to the day!0

My son likes the vanilla and chocolate soy milk. He can drink regular milk but he likes these better. I do not like unsweetened almond milk I know people say it takes on the flavor of what you put it with I tried it in smoothies and it made me gag.
They just found out my niece is intolerant to milk and they give her goats milk I have never tried it I can't say what it tastes like but she can't drink soy milk or almond milk either she is intolerant to almost all except the goats milk might be worth at try.0 -
Time to jump on the bandwagon here... almond milk!
I personally prefer unsweetened almond milk (with cereal/smoothies), but if I'm drinking it alone sometimes I'll indulge in the chocolate almond milk I use the silk variety (although I'm sure other brands are just as good), and the unsweetened is only 30 calories a cup, while the chocolate is only 120. For this, even the chocolate almond milk is 10 calories less per cup than the 2% I used to consume. However, be careful when people suggest vanilla almond milk! My dad picked up vanilla unsweetened almond milk before... I love unsweetened, and I love vanilla, but something about them both together... I did not like it at all. But then again, he purchased the packages that didn't need refrigeration until after opening it, so that could have changed the taste slightly. Make sure you purchase it cold! I'm sure soy milk and all that other stuff is just as good, but I personally favor the almond milk due to the nutritional values and the taste. I say just have fun experimenting with different milks until you find one you love! No harm in that ^-^0 -

I have been trying to figure out if it is in fact lactose intolerance or something else. Milk has become a cleanse for me....3 pounds down!0 -
The concept of milk grosses me out. Drinking an animals milk is just weird to me. I do eat meat, but there is just something about drinking milk that creeps me out.
I drink and cook with Silk.0 -
I think almond milk sounds delicious!0

I drink 100% Lactose Free Milk... still tastes like good ol' milk... without making me sick0
