Are microwaves really bad for you, and your food?

I have read a few articles that talk about how microwaving your food can rob it of most of its nutritional value. I am not sure how much of it is true. But there are numerous sources, so it is hard to say.
My problem is I work 10 hours shifts, at night, at a desk. So a stove top to heat/reheat really is not an option.

Have any of you guys tried to avoid using a microwave? If so, what are the best ways to do so when not at home.

Some nutrients do break down when they’re exposed to heat, whether it is from a microwave or a regular oven. So, as a general proposition, cooking with a microwave probably does a better job of preserving the nutrient content of foods because the cooking times are shorter.

    IN for "death boxes".
Don't believe the unfounded claims. They're fine.
I only use them to reheat stuff because I can't stand the way they cook things.
They're ok for eggs for egg muffins and a few other things...

It's a far better way to preserve nutritional value than, for example, boiling vegetables, or leaving food poorly wrapped in your fridge. Foods that aren't properly wrapped in a fridge can lose up to 50% of vitamins and even minerals over 2-3 days because they get oxidised. Worry about that before you worry about your microwave!

But yes microwaves are bad for people, don't get inside that thing now will you.
