I have decided not to log walking the dog on here, I have a fitbit which shows my calories is this the right thing to do?
Will still log when I do my exercise bike and aerobics has anyone else got a fitbit and what do you do?

If you wear your Fitbit while doing aerobics then don't log it a second time. It is designed to record your physical activity and then adjust on MFP for it, so if you add it on here too you'll be doubling up.0

Actually, if she does log it on MFP, it will ask for beginning time and length of exercise time, which will overwrite FB.0

Hi, I wear a fitbit one. I log actual exercise - eg running, cycling (in the MFP exercise log), and let the fitbit take care of general activity, the stuff that doesn't really get my heart rate up. The fitbit will automatically do an adjustment from time to time in the day if your activity detected by fitbit exceeds the setting you put your activity level at when you set up MFP. You do need to log actual exercise with start time, duration, and type, in MFP exercise log, so you aren't credited for that activity twice (by MFP and the fitbit) This is only my 3rd week on MFP but that is how I understand it works. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong! by the way, you can also set things up so fitbit gives you a negative adjustment, but I have not done that.(I read that can be problematic as the fitbit adjustment does not always come through in a timely manner. Cheers0

Fitbit is meant to account for things you log here separately. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. All seems a bit random. My rule is if it's a run or walk or a sport mainly based on running then I just leave it to the Fitbit and don't log it. If it's cycling or something that a Fitbit wouldn't pick up then I log it separately. Incidentally, if you play any racquet sports then make sure to have your Fitbit on your non-playing wrist otherwise it wildly overestimates your steps.0

Ah, I didn't know that. Thanks!0 -
I just wear mine all day and let it log. I take it off to swim, and log that on MFP.
I tried a bit of jogging, but gave up because of back and knee issues. Fit bit seemed to account for me doing more steps in less time and estimated a larger calorie burn, so I never adjusted anything there. I would maybe do something if I was using a bike though.
Before I used to try and work out all my extra activities and log everything in MFP. Now I just let Fit bit adjust the calories, and I have to say since Christmas I have stayed on track. So it must be doing something right. :-)0
