Can you anticipate weight fluctuates based on feel?

Maybe this is all in my super imaginative head. Maybe is a placebo effect. Maybe it's confirmation bias. Maybe I say maybe too much and need to find a new favorite word to overuse? Banana pants

The days leading up to an annoying weight fluctuation that's most likely water weight, I feel puffy. My face feels fat and I could be wrong, but I feel like I'm involuntarily sticking my tummy out. Like in those infomercial before shots when those no good liars stick their stomach out (then back in and whoop! 20lbs lost. Thanks, "suck the money out of my bank account" diet!) I do that. And in general, I just feel squishy all over. Then surprise surprise, big number!

But on days like today, my face feels sucked in and my double chin is in hiding temporarily and my moobs are more b cup than c and I'll probably go home and see a smaller number.

Anybody else experience this? Or am I crazy? Or both?

  • I do! Like, this morning, for instance... I went way over my sodium intake yesterday and I could feel it when I woke up. My wedding ring isn't as loose when I feel this way. Like you, I just feel... different. It's helpful, though. I know that when I step up on the scale that my weight could have fluctuated. It mentally prepares me. Haha.

Yeah, when i feel like I could cheerfully stab anyone that looks at me the wrong way I can guarantee that a random and unfair weight gain is likely.

Then when I feel goodwill towards mankind I can be fairly certain that the unjust, unwarranted and unwelcome extra will just disappear overnight :)

Yep, no question that you can tell (if you pay attention to the data by weighing yourself regularly). I hate that bloated feeling! Turkey Tires!

Oh definitely.. The last time I saw a decrease I woke up feeling slim and was so happy when the scale confirmed it! And I always know when I'll be up - puffy face and fingers.

edit because I suck at posting images...google banana pants - they actually exist!

Banana pants are quite the rage these days.

I'm terrible at gaging my feelings. This morning, I felt bloaty but hopped on the scale (I use the Libra app and do daily weigh ins for a cute graph that shows my weight trend) and I had gone down .6 lbs from yesterday? I'm sure some was dehydration, my throat is soreish but I guess my weight "feels" are off lol.

I can tell I'm going to drop below a certain weight by feeling a certain way... but this is because i know exactly what goes in my body(kcal/macros) and I know there's no way but to go down.
