Time off between Insanity Months

I've got one more day before the recovery week with Insanity....I've just about made it through the month!

Now the kicker; earlier this week, I believe I may have suffered some sort of Sports Hernia. I don't feel a bulge or anything, I've been pushing through doing what I can, stopping when the pain gets to be enough (mainly with planking stuff) and the only reason I've pushed through is because I was so close to the recovery week.

I'm seeing a doc soon, but I was wondering, if he prescribes rest, is taking 2-3 weeks instead of one okay? Should I re-start a week or something like that? I'm so friggen close I don't want to jeopardize my results with this if I don't have to.

Of course, this also depends on the doc...if he's like...you need surgery, then I'm going to have to put it off and re-start the program 3-4 months down the line.

If I'm thinking I have a sports hernia the last thing I'm worried about is how fast I can get back to doing insanity
  • I've seen people do the insanity progam over the course of a few months insted of two, because they can't handle the exercise every day.

I would just be more concerned with taking it easy and recovering than battling through.

Yeah, this next week is Recovery and is more stretching than anything else, and isn't really intense...I'm HOPING that a regiment of ice and ibprofin will be enough, but we'll find out soon!

If I have to take the time off, or take the planks and push-ups easy, then I will...those are the only things that aggravate it.

Jeopardize your results? Does your body only change if you complete the whole program on schedule? Like you miss the last day and you end up exactly where you started as if you did nothing?

I would wait and see what the doc says, you don't know what it is (I personally have no experience of a hernia) and they may say mild exercise/stretching is advised if you cannot get back to working out for some time.

    What I would do is maybe start the recovery week and depending on the doctors orders come off insanity and start again when your better. Look at it this way;

    * What you have done so far counts for something and your body will feel it.
    * There is no shame in taking a break and coming back to it, Insanity will always be there and you are doing it for yourself, you know you can do it and you will again.
    * Would you rather put yourself at risk of harming your body long term and live to regret it?

Basically my advice is to care for your health first and foremost, you will come back and you will get through the program no problem if the commitment you've already put in is anything to go by.

I hope you check out okay with the doctor x

Do you have a bulge somewhere on your abdomen? Did you feel a burning sensation when the pain started? You could have a muscle strain and need to rest. If you had a hernia, you wouldn't be able to "power though" much of anything without having alot of pain, The defect in the muscle, if it is a hernia, will not just heal itself over time.

The second month of Insanity is pretty intense, you may need a few lighter workouts to get your stamina back up, but I wouldn't really worry about it right now. Focus on getting healed and then worry about it.

No bulge, which is good! A sports hernia though doesnt have a bulge associated with it. Going to the Doc on Monday to see whats up.
