Calculating your calorie needs based on your workouts

So how does everyone calculate their calories based on their workouts? What I mean is that if you plan to go intense in your workouts are you eating more (good) calories etc?

I would use a hrm to determine how much you burned. Then you input it into mfp and they'll you how much to eat0
