To lose 20 pounds in 8 weeks, given your starting weight, you'd basically have to stop eating for about 5 of those 8 weeks.
A more realistic goal would be appropriate.0 -
I think you may need to reduce your calorie intake. If you want to be 150-155 pounds you would need to reduce your intake to 1,500-1,550 calories a day. Hope this helps!0

Do you weight lift? That will burn more calories during the day but it will also, help shrink you. May not lose as much as you want, but you will get slimmer.0

It really depends on how big you are at the start. I was 250lbs or something, and I lost nearly 17kg in 2 months. The healthy way. So you could probably do the same. I do cardio 1 hour per day (high intensity) and weights for another hour. Just eat healthy.
Drop your caloric intake down to about 1500 at least.0 -
I'm 5'4'' 175lbs, and I know that I will not lose weight eating 2000 cal/day. I'm set at 1400 cal/day (plus a little extra for exercise) to lose ~1lb/week. Up your workouts (30 min 5x/week?) and cut back to about 1500 calories and you may start to see results. Realistically, you could see 10 lb loss before early march? But with strength training (interval or circuit) you will see physical changes beyond the scale, too.0

I do 1200 calories a day on days I don't work out then 1500 on days I do I started last week and I have only lost 2 pounds I know that's realistic for me but im looking to burn more and all my weight is in my hips and waist and thighs =(0 -
A realistic goal is .5 lb. per week. Log everything you eat accurately & honestly. Find reliable database entries. (There's a lot of incorrect data in there.) Weigh your food. Log your exercise, and eat back your exercise calories. If you're still not losing, eat back half your exercise calories.

Why the deadline?0

vegas lol I lost a lot of weight before 2 summers ago I got down to 135 pounds and i went back up to 178 and this time around I would love to be around 1500
-
I suggest starting earlier next time.0

Not possible unless you starve yourself. And 2000 a day might be close to maintenance if all you're doing is zumba twice a week... try 1500.0

You started last week and have already lost 2 lbs?? I don't understand what the problem is.0 -
I suggest starting earlier next time.

Shakes head ... really. I just don't get it ... but let me guess, 20 year old girl meeting internet boyfriend. ;-)
Vegas .. really ??? Still shaking my head in amazement. I think I have heard it all now. But thanks OP for the entertainment.0 -
I suggest picking the limb you like the least.
in all seriousness though, please reconsider that short deadline.0 -
thats not so drastic of a goal..thats 2 pounds a week. normal healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds a week...if she focuses, cuts the white carbs, increase water, and drop the calories a bit, its totally do-able0
-
Last week I ate 1200 calories a day and felt so sad I could barely move and I got ill. For all that effort I lost one pound.
This week I upped my calories to 1440, did a variety of exercises from hot yoga, hot pilates, 30DS and elliptical (6 out of 7 days) and I lost 3 pounds.
It's simple eat at a sustainable amount and get moving!
P.S. 1 pound is still a great loss. Be patient0 -

OP, it's better to lose some weight in 45 days than none. If you walk a lot in Vegas, you might even lose during your vacay. Then get back to logging accurately & honestly when you get back, and you might reach goal by summer.0 -
What are you planning to do in Vegas weighing 150lbs that you can't do weighing 170lbs?0

I would have been disappointed if someone hadn't suggested amputation!0

Calorie cycling and some heavy weight training will burn more fat. You're barely eating enough to live so your metabolism is gonna slow. Do some combination of squats, deadlifts, upper body presses, lunges, and curls 3 days a week, and on those days up your calories. Do sprints and jump rope 2 days a week and go about 200 cals less or so on this days. So something like 2300 and 2100, and 2100 on your off days. Like said above, your lose less absolute weight, but more fat and add a bit of muscle which gives good shape to the body and coincidentally burns fat by existing.0

Honey, Vegas doesn't care what you weigh.
Eat at a moderate deficit and be happy with whatever you lose. Set realistic goals with no deadlines.0 -
I'm going to suggest some things that I'll probably get flamed for, but I like to answer the question instead of just judging. Generally speaking, 2000 calories sounds like a lot to be eating each day. If you drop that down to roughly 1500/day you should be able to drop about 2-3 lbs per week, for a total of roughly 5-10 in 45 days. Not all, but close. Now for the kicker, a week out do a cleanse diet for a few days, which should drop another 4-7lbs. Finally, a day or two before drop your water intake to a REAL 8 glasses a day. Really make sure that this is the amount your getting, and if you can, drop lower than that so you'll be a bit dehydrated. This should drop the remaining weight. Aside from the eating, this style is really no sustainable, but should get you where you want to be. None of it is dangerous.0

Well, first I would say don't starve. Figure out your actual TDEE (path to sexypants link will help with that) and go a percentage lower than that. Do weights as has been suggested. But honestly short of amputating something I would really reconsider the goal.
Is it worth pushing for a short term loss where you'll gain it back or doing it the right way the first time and keeping it off?0 -

1. What you are suggesting has the potential of being dangerous.
2. Suggesting the OP can lose 2-3 pounds per week is not appropriate.
3. Our bodies cleanse themselves, which is why we poop and pee. (so no need to do a cleanse diet)
4. Suggesting the OP dehydrate themselves as part of the plan, is well, wrong.
5. Any water weight that would be lost going with this approach will come back immediately, once the OP goes back to regular eating and drinking.
p.s. promoting unsafe weight-loss techniques is also against community guidelines.0 -

There is more then one way to lose weight people...geez. My suggestion....Two days a week of cardio and a 2000 calorie diet isn't going to do much. Like others said - cut back to at least 1500-1800 and up your protein intake to anywhere from 150g-200g per day. You are going to need to train ALOT. Meaning, cardio everyday (at least 45 min) and weights every other day (if not everyday). Weights will not make you bulky..lean muscle mass=more calories burned daily. I usually do two a days - morning is weights (different muscle group everyday) and then night is cardio (at least 45 min HIIT or plyo). Yes it's hard but our bodies did not evolve for this sedentary lifestyle we have taken on as a species..you can do it...but it's super discipline time and up, up, up for cardio and add weights!0

150-200g of protein a day is ridiculous. 30% is plenty. In the end it doesn't matter though... it's not a healthy loss rate at all anyway.0 -
You could try cutting off limbs, however the safety of this method is questionable.0

I remember when I went to NYC. I lost about 10-15lbs in about 4 days.
That came from walking straight for 12 plus hours/day and barely eating since I was always walking.
I would NOT recommend that.
Oh and those 10-15 lbs, all came back a week later.
My tips are eat a little less (more of a deficit) and exercise more.
Celebrate any weight loss!! (It will not be 20lbs)0
