How do you burn calories without quads??

I am nursing a soccer injury in my quad which I have experienced before and know it takes a LONG time to heal. So that I don't make it worse, I am trying not to use that muscle (and hurts when I do by accident to remind me injury is still there). The problem is, all of my normal exercise habits to burn the most calories utilize that muscle. Any suggestions on a high-calorie burn? Other than jump-roping on on leg? :) Thanks!

    The only effective thing I could think of is Total Gym. I have one and there are many variations of upper-body exercises that increase you heart rate.
