I find that I enjoy exercising outdoors so much better then at home or in a gym. I love getting the fresh air and being outside. Unfortunately it has been too cold to exercise outside. Looking forward to it getting warmer.

I actually prefer colder weather for exercising outside (20f-60f). I'm not looking forward to the heat of summer :(

I actually started exercising outdoors this winter. I've never been confident enough to do so before, but I'm really enjoying it - especially now that is IS getting a bit warmer and lighter. I had a really nice bike ride the other day at sunset - quite warm, with the sun a bright red up ahead of me. I'm not sure I'll enjoy it in the middle of summer, especially since I have a severe wasp phobia that usually makes me live in fear for six months of the year and avoid being outside wherever possible, but we'll see how it goes.

I enjoy it too. I love taking walks with the kids and dog or even just running around outside with them. When it warms up some, I might start riding hubby's bike for something different. And we have a huge set of stairs on a hill between the apartment buildings that would make an awesome work out if I could just go up and down them over and over.

I'm not a huge lover of cold weather, but I'd much rather exercise outside than inside, even in the cold. I usually run, hike, walk the dogs, or go on walks with my 3 yr old. Once I get moving, it's not that bad and I actually kind of like it. Of course, I live in central Texas and it doesn't get that cold here. But we do sometimes make it down into the 20s and I'll still get outside as much as I can.

I live in upstate NY NORTH of Syracuse. Snow country baby! This winter has been very forgiving and I have been riding my mountain bike on the roads for most of February. If it is 28 F. or warmer I find I can ride. The trick is wearing work boots and wool socks to keep the toes from freezing!!! I wear my snowmobile gloves and a wool hat. The gloves allow me to shift and brake just fine. I have been lucky in that there is little or no ice on the roads.

My other mode of exercise is weight lifing which I do in my garage gym. The garage is ususally about 45 degrees and in a short bit I can shed a layer.

If there was snow, I would probably try cross country skiing. Good luck with the workouts.

LOVE cross country skiing!! We just don't have the snow this year..total bummer!

I walk every day regardless of the temp, just dress warmer if it is colder out. I have heard you burn more calories in the cold weather as your body has to work harder to warm you up. I am usually ok unless it is really windy then it can suck.

I am from California so I love running outdoors and on trails. We have fantastic weather for this here. If I could lift weights outdoors I would!

I'm like you, exercising outside during the winter was not my favorite, but this year I got some proper attire. I'm just glad that I waited until this year because the last two winters in Minnesota were HELL!

I am in North Carolina so we have not had winter yet this year. We just got back from a 5 mile power walk outside. I love the fresh air and the vitamin D from the sun. My husband and I are both sensitive to seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and try to get outside when we have sunshine. I have a cut off of 42 degrees, he is from western NY and will go out into the 20s.

It has been so nice here that my husband is mowing the grass right now. I fear we are going to have a bad cold snap/ snow storm that is going to kill all of my plants that are coming up too early due to the warm weather.

I run outdoors all year 'round now. The only thing guaranteed to keep me off the streets is freezing rain. The coldest day (the I'm aware of) that I ran was around -35c, it's all about dressing properly. The one thing that I've found with running in slippery conditions is that you shorten your stride which leads to better running form in good weather. (My profile picture was taken in January at a run called the Hypothermic Half Marathon; it was a balmy -16c that day)

I was born in Syracuse and lived in Tully until I was sixteen. I had lots of experience jogging on snowy roads! Now I live in the mountains of Western MD, which is milder, but still usually gets a fair amount of winter weather. I enjoy walking even in the winter - especially during or just after a storm when everything is pristinely white and quiet. Would LOVE to get back to jogging/running, but I need to lose some weight first so I don't damage my joints- especially with all the hills around here. I never thought of mountain biking in the winter, but it sounds like fun too.

Outdoor exercise in the winter can be done any time of day, but during the summer I often like to get it done as early in the morning as possible to avoid the heat. So actually in some ways outdoor exercise is actually better in the winter.
