Motivation Struggles

Hi all!
I decided to join myfitnesspal for a little bit more accountability to myself. I'm been overweight all my life, and though I am familiar with the concept of counting calories and logging food and exercise, doing it by hand in a journal or whatever often leads to me slacking off and skipping a day... and then another day... and then a week. I had a lot of success a few years with the Wellspring program (I'm 18 now, I was 15 at the time) and lost about 80 pounds. 2 years later, my current weight is higher than my initial weight at that time. I had maintained for two years, and the weight gain itself was actually very, very rapid. Medications I was taking and a lack of inactivity after knee surgery contributed to the situation, but starting college and leaving the safety of my health-food-stocked home made it much more difficult for me to just make good decisions in general.
I'm someone that hates coking, so my plan is to focus almost entirely on smoothies during the week and have a healthy /solid/ meal or two on the weekend. I usually do bananas, a clementine, some kale or spinach, a few tbsp of silken tofu, 2 tsp of chia seeds, 1/2 tsp of coconut oil, and some sort of protein powder.
I'm working towards having a minor surgery at the end of May, and would like to lose many 15-20 pounds by then. Has anyone else gone the smoothie route? o:

I have tried smoothies...and find myself craving solid food. I did lose some weight, but gained back as soon as I let myself have solids. Smoothies don't satisfy0

Hi!
Look up Fat, Sick and almost dead. Its a documentary by an Aussie, Joe Cross. He talks about the benefits of juicing but its only for those who are morbidly obese or need a short-term fix. However, I wouldn't recommend or be able to stick to it!
I am hoping to lose weight through healthy-eating only but lack motivation.0 -
It sounds to me like you are looking for a quick fix.
All the fad diets work for a short time, if followed.
Hope you get well soon0 -
I also don't like to cook, and I find ways to control my calorie intake without doing it. You can buy premade foods - soup from Whole Foods, salads & sandwiches from the deli section of grocery stores, rotessiere chickens, Steamfresh vegetables, Subway, etc...
I diet consisting of just smoothies would send me over the deep end I'm sure.0 -
liquid diets are never good! eat real food! or if you dont have time to cook, instead of blending all those things up into a liquid why not just eat them whole?! More satisifying that way I think, and plus once you stop using the liquid diet method and start eating solid food you will almost certainly gain weight back.0

Oh wow o: I didn't even know there was a "Liquid diet." I just really enjoy smoothies .-.
So nix the idea of only having smoothies? I guess I'll just stick to them for breakfast.0 -
My idea of a liquid diet is a bit different . . . . Beer, vodka, whiskey . . . .0
