MFP Burnout

Hello,

I have been using MFP for over 200 days. It has helped me lose weight and keep it off. It has been part of the reason I excercise more. I have made friends with some really supportive people, and have been inspired by strangers and their success.

That said, I find myself slacking off and my interest waning in using MFP. I am not logging accurately. I am not as communicative with people on here. I pretty much am only logging so I can keep building on my logged in days, I don't want to go back to Day 1.

My weight has stayed consistent. My excercise has slacked a little but that's been more around getting the flu and then the stomach bug.

How have other people overcome this hump? How can I put energy and dedication back into this? Is taking a break from MFP a good idea? I'm looking for advice on how to get motivated again with MFP, as I don't want to slip back and gain weight.

Thanks in advance,
Sharon

Is it really just MFP you're burned out with or is it your food/exercise routine?

If you're comfortable with your food/exercise routine, and you're really just tired of logging everything, a break might not be a bad idea. If you've been doing this well for 200 days, you should have developed quite a few healthy habits. My guess is you know when you've eaten the right amount and exercised a good amount for each day.

Take a break from calorie counting and start really just listening to your body. I think you will be surprised that you won't gain and may continue losing if you can tune in to how your body is feeling. You can probably keep a pretty accurate mental diary as well.

I took a break when I was about 3lbs from my original goal weight. I was able to maintain without logging during that time, did workouts when I was able, and ate healthy portions.

When I was feeling more enthusiastic again, I lost another 15 lbs, which put me at my lowest weight in my adult life.
  • I hit that wall and deactivated only to reactivate 2weeks later. I found that what I needed was new goals. I was tired of just the weight loss and lifting was beginning to become mundane. I now have set lifting goals and am going to try a recomp instead of just losing weight. It is just a shift in focus but has me excited and motivated again.

Thanks for the ideas. I'm going to stick with MFP and add new goals to shake things up. I am committing to Krav Maga twice a week, and finishing week 4 of Ripped in 30. I also made my food diary private again. I need to think about a 100 day goal, like running a 10k, something that requires training and a end reward. Thanks again for the advice.
