Imagine that ♡♡ Mine looks just like that on my Libra app! Thanks for sharing to those who think the scale should never show a higher number than their lowest point. Just keep chugging!0

How often do you weighing yourself (daily, weekly, monthly)? What time of day do you weigh yourself?0

About daily. I often skip days (or even weeks).
Also, this post was not a question or a problem. Just an illustration to show this is "normal" and should be expected. I'm fine with the daily fluctuations, and have no interest in switching to once a week or whatever.0 -
Love this!0

Can't blame people for going a little nutty over 3+ month plateaus.
My body has been very "You shall not pass" with weight loss.
True nonetheless expecting instantaneous or easy results is just silly.0 -
Yep!
I love this pic. Accurate.0 -

Are you trying to imply that if she just weighed herself properly all those numbers would majically fall onto a straight line????
Note for women to be aware of - you can see in that chart a really common pattern - you can see a month-by-month trend. Hormones have an effect on metabolism and weight loss and they obviously run on a cyclical pattern in women.0 -
Thanks for the reminder.
...and here's a bump.0 -

This is why I can't weigh myself every day. Those daily fluctuations make me crazy.
When I get "stuck" on a plateau, I take a good, hard look at myself and then admit that I haven't been logging every little thing I eat. Honesty and accountability...it's a *****.0 -

Oh, yeah, I weight in the mornings, naked, after going pee.
I actually don't weigh more during my period. It actually looks like I weight between them. Interesting.0 -

The end.
This is great!! What kind of app or program can I get to do this?0 -
thank you for the reality check :flowerforyou:0

I just do it in microsoft excel. List dates and weights, insert a scatter plot, click on the data series and plot a trend line.0 -
I keep a daily weight tracker in excel, too. I do a line graph instead of a scatter plot and it's absolutely crazy how many ups and downs there are. I would not be able to hack being a daily weigher without my chart. It's the only way I can look back and see how much progress I've made.0

I really like Trendweight.com and Hacker's Diet Online for showing trends. I use the Aria scale and have worked out some pretty cool ways to automate data collection and visualizing my data. Check out my blog: http://johntmoore.blogspot.com/
Weight loss is not linear. Get used to variation. Every process shows variability. Need to use data smoothing to separate signal from noise.0 -

Did the same thing and have a similar-looking graph (although I think a few more data points).
I always tell my clients to expect that their weight will look more like a ball bouncing down the stairs than a kid going down a slide.0 -

This actually almost brought tears to my eyes...0 -
I weigh myself everyday with my wii, because if I had a normal scale I would weigh myself every time I went to the bathroom. I also love that it tracks my weight, BMI, etc for me. I give myself two shots, if I see an increase I can weigh myself one other time (center of balance can cause a slight fluctuation I have noticed) if it's still up on the second weigh I move on with my morning.
This morning I was up 1.5lbs, because I had had a very light dinner two nights ago and a big one last night trying to make sure after a really hard day of work m body had enough of everything to repair itself. This morning I didn't poo until after my second go on the scale so I guess I will just have a prettier number to look at tomorrow.
So long as the scale goes back down within a day or two, who cares if it goes up a little bit?0 -
I weigh myself daily, I find I'm less obsessed with the scale than I used to be - I used to look forward to the weekly weigh in and be disappointed if it was up, I also found that I felt great about a loss but then the next day I was worrying about gaining back.
I have a new strategy now, before weighing myself I tell myself that I'll probably be 0.5 kg heavier.
This week I'm down a kilo but definitely not linear:
Mon: 86.3
Tue: 86.2
Wed: 85.6
Thu: 84.6
Fri: 85.1
Sat: 85.30 -
Wow, everyone should do one of these charts. It's really an eye opener to see the linear trendline. I weigh only on Saturday, so the weeks I'm "mysteriously" up and gained...it's hard to keep positive sometimes. Even though I know from experience it's a blip and not to pay any attention, it's still hard not to dwell. But my plot points and the trend line looks just like yours This is too cool! And so reassuring. I'm going to continue doing this and when I have that weird week where I've gained, I'll look at this for reassurance to just keep trudging along.0

Here's mine, covering 50+ pounds of weight loss....
More importantly, here's the relationship between what I did lose, and what CICO said I should lose. This accounts for "cheat" days, holidays, etc...

I experience a lot of the up and down weight, but what I don't understand is how for the last 2 months I have lost less than 5 pounds but have finally lost 2 clothing sizes. It was like overnight. I went out and bought this new suit - size 12, got home tried it on, and had to take it to be altered for the leg length. When I got it back a week later, it practically falls off but I didn't lose any significant amount of weight! Is this normal?0

This was a really, really helpful reminder & illustration to me today. Thanks for posting it.0
