TUNA

Hey everyone! I am a lover of tuna but I have trouble eating it dry. I always put mayo in it and I am not a light mayo or miracle whip fan. I was just wondering what other people do with their tuna to make it moist and still great tasting! I recently bought the ranch tuna thinking it would help by not needing mayo and it wasnt terrible but I was disappointed in the actual herb taste they chose. :flowerforyou:

I just add the mayo and count it in my day :happy:0

I add lime juice to mine and then a dash of chilli jam (only a dash)...gives it some zing too!0

Mayo, Cream of Mushroom, Cream of Chicken....
Doesn't matter, just log whatever you use though!0 -

Yup. I don't think there's such a thing as good tuna without mayo. :laugh:0 -

this- I hate mayo- this has been the best "swap" I've every made. Love it.0 -
Try the tuna in the bag it's pretty good.0

I tried replacing my mayo with some mashed up avocado--wasn't bad!0
-
You could try adding vinegar or Worcester sauce.0

I put 1/2 an avocado (roughly chopped- not mashed) and 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, and some days a tablespoon or two of hummus to a can of tuna. Not fantastic to eat every day, but I actually kind of like the flavor and texture.
Oh- and I've added some salsa (very low cals) just to give it some moisture and flavor. Again, not fantastic, but better than raw tuna and easy for a quick snack.0 -

THIS. Tuna is so yum with Mayo. Personally I like the Helmann's with Canola oil, I just weigh it and add it in. I'm not skipping my yummy mayo.0 -
I either eat it plain w/some pickles or pickle relish, add mustard, or add avocado.0

This.
You could also add avocado, but the calories are about the same. A little mayo won't kill you.

Yeah me too. I find other ways to cut calories but doing without mayo in my tuna isn't one of them. LOL.0 -
I add no-fat, low sodium cottage cheese to mine!0

I like red wine vinegar and some fresh herbs. Parsley, cilantro, chives or dill is nice.0
-
I used to mix it with olive oil and chili powder0
-
For sandwiches, try subbing mango juice for mayo.0
-
I add it to peppers, onions, garlic, chilli and a bit of tomato puree, it is lovely!0

Balsamic vinegar, a bit of red onion, and just a touch of olive oil. Got used to my grandmother just doing onion and vinegar with tonno for my grandfather. If you go for tuna packed in water, the olive oil is nice for the mouthfeel, because with just vinegar it still has a kinda dry mouthfeel.
However, I can eat it straight out of the can and be happy too0 -
Try a low-calorie dressing.
Edited: You might not mind light mayo in there. I use Hellman's light and enjoy it as much as I do the regular stuff.
If you've tried it in other stuff but not the tuna, you may find that the tuna flavor is strong enough to make the difference between regular mayo and light mayo insignificant.
Also, it might be a matter of "getting used" to light mayo, the way people acclimatize themselves from whole milk to 2%, then to 1%, then to skim. So maybe try half "full" may and half "light" for a while.0 -
If it's going on a piece of gluten free bread - I like it to be a little on the less dry side. Don't deprive yourself - use the mayo and count it!
I also like avocado.
I usually get the single-serving pouch. I'm thinking that I can add it to a salad. It should mix with the dressing (usually a vinaigrette) and taste just fine.0 -
Plain,
Or, dill pickle relish and mustard,
Or, salsa,
Or, plain.
Mayo is gross and plain Greek yogurt is barfable.
Minus the salsa, IA with every word. I usually mix in a tablespoon of dill relish and then add some Adobo or other seasoning.0 -
I use honey mustard.0

This... This is exactly what I do except I use red wine vinegar instead of balsamic. I also sometimes either add chopped green olives or capers if I have them to use up. Different take on tuna but delish to this usual mayo lover! LOL0 -
i HATE mayo
i love spicy stuff
i put spicy mustard in my tuna
and i like crunch
so ill throw in onions, celery, bell peppers, whatever i got
but mustard in tuna is delicious, ive been eating it that way my entire life0 -
use the mayo just count it in your daily total0

my trainer says to use balsamic vinegar to taste and 1 tsp. olive oil. I usually leave out the oil. I mix in some cheese sometimes too. Or I use light mayo if I'm in the mood for it. (I'm not perfect heheh)0

I hate mayo, but I don't like plain tuna. I buy the flavored packs. I like the sweet & spicy flavor. It's still kind of dry, but I can ignore it b/c it's tasty.0
