Money or job satisfaction?

Which one do you pick?

- a high paying job doing work you can easily handle but find boring and mundane.
- an average to low paying job where you get excited to work everyday.

    Second one.
Boredom is the biggest stress inducer. Gah...
Edit: Which means I'd totally take on a second job in a heartbeat if needed. Mhmmm.

    Really?

Things you can do with money: nice hobbies, nice vacations, nice toys to forget the work.

I don't want to have to DREAD going to work every single day, regardless of the money. Not worth it.
  • Second one, the first one will come when you enjoy doing something.

Second one. I have the first right now and I'm always too stressed or too tired to really enjoy myself on my time off.
  • High paying job for sure. That way I can have all the things in life I always wanted. A nice flat, a nice car, holidays with my boyfriend, help my mum out, etc. I'm more than okay with being bored day after day if it means i get to go home and enjoy my life outside of work.

Both. I make a pretty decent living but I work a lot of hours and have a considerable amount of stress with my job (my boss is nuts!). But as I'm getting closer to 50, I find myself wondering if I'm able to find a different job that is far more satisfying and less of a burden. Well, I guess that's life.
  • Reminds me of a quote I heard somewhere.

"A man who loves his job, never has to work a day in his life"

If you are bored, you either don't have lot of work to do or won't focus on doing it. Either ways you might get fired, there is hardly any free lunch these days. LOL

I am currently working at high paying job for past 4 years now. Nothing new to learn. Given the choice I would take the second option.
  • Job satisfaction, every time! I don't understand how anyone could purposefully pick a boring job. O.o Then again, with my career choice I should get to have both...

Thats an interesting point and worth exploring.

We dont live to work; we work to live. So more money means you can leave work at work and have a real life outside of work.

    Both.

I've done both at one time or another, and they are equally important, which is why I am currently suffering through full-time grad school in addition to working my full-time job.

Reading comprehension? The choice is not boring vs interesting. The choice given was boring+money vs interesting+no-money

take the money, use it to enjoy your time away from work... Job is only necessary for a short period of time and is used to enjoy the other parts of your life... unless of course you can find a job with satisfaction and good money to boot.

I'd prefer to be somewhere in the middle (I'm boring like that).

    Give me the money.

I could always save up enough to find a more enjoyable job later.

Since I'm just about to get the most useless degree one can possibly study for and currently have zero career prospects, a job, ANY job, would be good. (other than being a waitress of course.)

Money. Job satisfaction is nice but if you make good money you can go on vacation and have awesome hobbies. Id rather have my outside life be the most interesting, fun thing in my life than my job.
Enjoying your job can only go so far if there's no financial payoff.
I have had both good paying jobs and horrible paying jobs. (My favorite job was the one made the least money too btw).

High paying job...just being honest. You can always have fun after work, but you can't if you are having to work 2 or 3 jobs. Just my opinion, don't shoot me

My guess is philosophy but that sounds like such a fun thing to study..

I'm sorry but I think I'd take money..my job life might suck but at least I wouldn't be stressed in other aspects of life when it comes to bills and paying for extra things I might want.
