Great job!! Way to push yourself!0

That is sooooo awesome!
I recently started doing the same!0 -
A bunch of little things make up a big thing. Good for you! You just gotta keep pushing and that's when you see the best results. Great job!0
-
That's a huge deal! Way to go! If you keep that up, at some point you will be able to run a whole mile! You can't even imagine the places that can lead you to but you will never find out if you don't keep at it! Again, great job!0

:drinker:
Brilliant news. I tried that once and nearly ended up on my behind....however I too have the urge to go faster so I may just follow your example Cheers for the encouragement and go you!!:flowerforyou:0 -
Good job! You have to start somewhere and that's a great start, especially doing it in intervals.
This is one of my fav quotes and I feel you may enjoy it as well
"I run. Slower then a herd of turtles thru peanut butter, BUT I run! "0 -
Way to go! It sounds like you have the mindset that turned me into a runner: after so much time walking, I got to thinking "this would go a LOT faster if I just ran". Good luck! :flowerforyou:0

Great job! That's exactly the right way to start!0

Excellent! It's amazing what we are capable of when we let go of our fears. Keep at it... what you are doing is the best way to build endurance.0

HURRAH YOU!!!!! Standing Ovation! Olympic cheers! This is how everyone starts Keep it up and before you know it, you will be running in your first 5K race. :drinker:0
-
Yay! You go!0

That's great! That's the way to start any challenge...just by doing it! Yesterday it was 30 seconds. Next week it will be 45 seconds. Then a minute....and before you know it you will have signed up for a 5K!
The best thing about exercise is YOU GET TO SET YOUR OWN BAR!
That's fantastic and I'm really stoked for you!0 -
No, it's not a big deal to me ... IT'S FLIPPING HUGE!!!! So pleased for you as I just started doing a little very slow jogging myself and know just how amazing it makes you feel. :bigsmile:0
-
That's precisely how it starts. Good job.0

Excellent. I would suggest maybe downloading a C25K app for your smartphone. I went from never running ever to now running 5k's and 10k's. A true endorphin junkie lol.0

you should feel proud. i want to be able to do that too. and so far, i havent been able to. i do have a torn atfl (ankle) (needs surgery) (don't want to) which i think i may use as an excuse and the biggest breasts that i would love to have smaller. but soon i will try and do the damn thing. great job!0

A journey of 1000 miles starts with a singe step

thank you everyone!0

I'll second the couch to 5k app! I recently finished the program but I'm not up to a full 5k yet. BUT I can run 3 miles in 32 minutes. 32 minutes of straight running! If you would have asked me a year ago if I could have done it I would have laughed in your face.0
-
Way to go! If you feel like you could easily continue, look into the Couch to 5K program. It has you start out exactly the way you did... 30 seconds of running and a few minutes of walking alternating for a half hour. Every week you run for a little longer until you're running 3.1 miles. Or you can Google Jeff Galloway and his method of running and walking in intervals. It's the way I "run" and I've completed a couple dozen races that way including 8 half marathons.0

You didn't run slowly. You ran so fast that it wasn't even possible for you to see all the people sitting in/on their couches doing nothing at all.0

That's awesome! It's how I worked up to being able to run a 5k. Slowly! When I first started jogging, I could go for less than a minute at a time. After maybe 8 months I could run for 10 minutes at a time, then a few months later I ran 2 miles straight, last year I ran 3 miles without stopping and felt awesome about it. It helped me to set little goals, like "run 2 min at a time," "run 5 min at a time," "complete 1 mile," this worked very well for me. Now I try to run a 5k on the treadmill once a week.
I've been able to increase my speed recently from 4.5mph (which used to be a real struggle for me) to around 5 or 5.5 average, and sometimes I do 6mph dashes for a minute or so at a time. All this from starting exactly like you did... running for a few seconds or minutes at a time.
Congrats and keep at it!!0 -

Good news; since 5K = 3.1 miles, you're pretty much there!!0 -
Don't sell yourself short! That is amazing. My first successful attempt at running was for 2 blocks. When I realized I didn't die, I downloaded a C25K app and started training. Last summer, 2 weeks before my 30th birthday, I ran a whole mile nonstop for the first time in my ENTIRE life. By the end of the summer and fall I was running 5Ks and even did a 10K run on my own. This spring I'm signed up for a Half Marathon. Baby steps become great strides! Take pride in your accomplishment!0

It's a huge deal! :flowerforyou: I'll chime in with the C25K love. I did it last year and was absolutely amazed that I could eventually run for any period of time. It's an incredible feeling.0

Yaaayyy! Great stuff, just be warned it gets addictive the more you do it!0
-
that IS awesome, because I can't jog on a treadmill. I feel like I'm going to fall off :laugh:0
-
Woop-woop!! It's a great achievement!
I used to only walk on the treadmill too, did exactly the same as you and found that I could run - who'd have guessed? Then (like lots of previous posters) I did the C25K, after 6 weeks I ran my first non-stop 5K in about 45 minutes, since then my time has come down to about 33. I used to joke that if you saw me running then you'd better run too but now I love running - welcome to the club! :flowerforyou:0 -
I did the same today... Except that I did outside. I walked 90 sec and jogged 60. I did it 3 times.. ha...Much more to come I hope!0

WHOOP WHOOP!
Thats how I started too!
Yay you!0
