Fiber is awesome!

I am sure folks already know about the benefits of a high fiber diet as there are many studies and facts published about the effect of fiber and maintaining or losing weight. I just thought I would share my own opinion on it if anyone cares to know.

I love fiber! I love the fiber you can get from veggies and I love the fiber you can get from whole grains and cereal. Even though I have reduced the number of carbohydrates I consume daily and avoid wheat and white products, I still make sure to get a small percentage every morning in the form of Fiber One cereal at only 60 calories in 1/2 cup

I get up wicked early for work at 4:15 AM and I am the type of person who literally rolls out of bed hungry! So I can't wait until I get to the office for breakfast. Typically I get up, do my 75 jumping jacks, 20 push ups and 50 crunches, shower and head directly to the kitchen for a bowl of cereal!

More importantly I wanted to mention that many nights I have a bowl of high fiber cereal as a snack before I go to bed.

Despite all of the information that says you shouldn't eat before bed (which I don't believe at all), not only does it help me to get a really good nights sleep but I almost always wake up with a nice flat belly and feeling a pound or so lighter the next day.

I highly recommend it for healthy weight maintenance and/or weight loss.

I second fiber being awesome! This year I've been doing green smoothies for breakfast with banana, PB2, spinach and chia seeds and I am continually impressed that they keep me full for 5 hours. Even whole grain cereal (and it's stupid chicory root fiber additive) didn't do that for me.

I'm always preaching fiber to my husband too, who is generally antivegetable (because they leave him hungry). V8 may be 2 servings of vegetables but you are not getting the fiber to keep you full!
