I'll admit I've never really tried it deliberately - partly because I've always focused mainly on strength and partly because it doesn't strike me as the best way to go about what it aims to do. My take based on what I've read: It seems like a potentially useful way to help you identify specific weaknesses if you don't already know what they are. I would not make it a regular part of a routine though.

Pre-exhausting, by definition, limits what you can do on a given lift. So, you're compromising the overall effectiveness of your most useful, compound lifts. Not only limiting the gains they should offer, but also potentially compromising your form on those lifts and risking injury.

If you think you have deficiencies, address those separately after you've squeezed everything you can out of your strengths. Do accessories after the big lift to target your weaknesses, rather than accessories before the big lift that weaken your strengths.
