I was referred to this site: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/drobson175.htm when I asked about reducing body fat (skinny fat situation). And I was reading this page when I saw: fat burning supplements that can be used in conjunction with a good diet and exercise. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think it's effective or just dumb?

Well...to be fat burning...it would have to be chemically boosting your metabolism. So...you're jumpy, irritable and cant sleep. Um...have a cup of coffee, and go to the gym. Cheaper.0

Mostly just stimulants, caffeine and diuretics. Not worth it. There's no quick fix, and no substitute for hard work. If you're skinny-fat, you need to lift heavy, it's a lack of muscle, and not necessarily a surplus of fat.

Hey-
Regarding fat burning supplements, I wouldn't reccommend! A lot (most) of them harshly effect the liver. One of the most popular ones, OxyElitePro, is banned now due to connection with liver failure.
Caffeine, however, is one of the best fat-burner stimulants and of course is safe to take. My pre-workout is just coffee and it works well!
Hope this helps.0
