30 Day Shred or Extreme Shed and Shred?

I have been interested in buying either the 30 day shred or the extreme shed and shred by Jillian Michaels. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with either one and would recommend one over the other. I want to start to get into a better routine of exercising and have heard great things about both DVDs.

Also, would you recommend I buy a HRM to keep track of calories burned? I don't really know any other way to keep track but also don't want to spend the money if I don't absolutely need it.

    I use the polar hmr & it's great! Not for ALL day but for your workout :) and I do both those DVDs.. The Shed & Shred is HARD!!!!! But burns over 600 calories in an hour.. The 30DS is better to start with and still burns over 200 in 20 minutes :)

    Thanks! :) I've been doing the 30DS so far and I'm on day 4. Maybe once I'm done this I will get the shred aandshed since it seems like a level up from 30DS :)
