I use the rice cooker to make quinoa - use the same proportions to cook it as rice.. ie. 1 cup quinoa with 2 cups water...
I use the quinoa to make veggie burgers (http://allrecipes.com/recipe/quinoa-black-bean-burgers/detail.aspx) - these are delicious! The carnivore hubby actually likes them.0 -
Yummy! I can never cook qunioa properly so I'll have to try it.
Anyone else have any recipes? I'd love to be able to whip up something like a homemade Rice-a-Roni without all of those nasty chemicals :laugh:0 -

When my husband and I married, I had every kitchen appliance imaginable----except a rice cooker. My husband is Chinese/Filipino, so guess what he had----a rice cooker, of course. Over the years, I have learned to appreciate his rice cooker almost as much as my slow cooker and pressure cooker.

I use mine for Mac & Cheese a lot... since we banned the blue box from our kitchen. Super easy, quick, and easy to change up.
Here is the basic recipe:
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups whole wheat elbow macaroni
1 1/3 cups vegetable stock (or chicken stock, or even just plain water!)
1 1/2 cups shredded cheese
1/4 cup milk
Directions
Place the pasta and water or stock into the rice cooker and turn it on.
Let cook for 15 minutes.
Add shredded cheese and milk
Stir & enjoy!
I will add in different things depending on my mood... Broccoli, frozen corn, carrots, peas, leftover chicken, etc.
